"Home Cookin'- The Stories Behind The Food" was born here on LTH as a labor of love. Most of my best meals have been in homes, not restaurants and tired of hip chef syndrome I started writing about food that resonated to me on a more personal level. We published about 1/2 a dozen here on the homepage and a couple thru Chicago Community Trust but when that ended, I kept writing them.
20 personal profiles on great home cooks w/some of their recipes and the elevator pitch of "Studs Terkel meets Julia Child". Originally sourced from O.G. LTH'rs like Ronnie Suburban, SteveZ, Ava and Trixie-pea -after 100 unsolicited queries were mostly ignored, and a plague, I stopped submitting for a few yrs but the profiles are even more timely today.
What to do?
The stories feature many strong women and immigrants in a kind of walk a mile in my hijab depiction so I've started a blog on getting it published called "500 Words"- which is what the bots look for, start to notice, and in turn hopefully help get attention to the manuscript and "build the brand", a talent that defies me.
The plan is 1 a wk every Wednesday. I hope you like and can see fit to support by reading, sharing and commenting as the spirit of LTH is in the house (and manuscript).
