At my Jewel (Arlington Heights), the offer this weekend is a can of ripe olives. Happy with that option. (I'd shop there anyway, but nice to get those freebies.)

I don't know if I will use the olives, but I can always donate them. The city of Evanston has a donation bin right near where you enter the Chicago Ave. store. They are looking for non perishable food such as canned goods and cereal, toys, children's books, and winter coats.

Looks like the free can of Jewel brand olives is at all stores. Hoping there are some left. It appears to apply to all sizes except colossal.

    Hi,

At Highland Park, there were colosal. I was also charged $1.79 for the free olives, which was corrected by the manager. You may want to check your receipts.

I just checked my J4U, and I now have a $1.50 off coupon for Ithaca hummus. Somebody here was raving about it recently. I usually buy Cedar's, because that is what on sale the most. I just bought some Cedar's 2/$4 at Jewel. I also have a personalized price of $.88 for green onions, and so maybe Cathy will be lucky and get one. They just had Brummel and Brown margarine on sale, and they had a $.50 off coupon. I was going to buy some when I was there tonight, and they were out of it. At least my coupon is still good. Margarine has gone way up in price, and it is now just as expensive as butter. Aldi's has butter for $2.99 right now

A note if you're looking at those Jewel pork shoulders: Tony's has 'em for .99/lb Friday-today. I think Tony's are non-solution-added, which makes the meat in them the same price as Jewel's 10-15% water "Always Tender". Same deal on chuck roast plus .79/lb whole chickens as well.
Now I'm daydreaming about a couple smokers going, chicken, beef, pork, slaw, beans, buncha people around the pool...not gonna happen, but it's a happy thought.

What do people do with pomegranates? They have a lot of seeds in them that you have to remove I think.

I am interested in the sugar, and the cans of beans and tomatoes as well as the Breyers ice cream. I was at Jewel yesterday, and passed on the sour cream because they did not have the lite version. The sparkling water is cheap, but I don't drink a lot of sparkling water in the winter time, and I still have three cartons left from the $2.99 sale we had this summer.

The Jewel B1G1F Italian sausage includes the chicken sausage. There are either five or six sausages in each package. I prefer Amylu sausages that I can get on sale fairly often for $3.99 at Whole Foods, or $3.59 if you are a member of Prime.

I bought a carton of Breyer's coconut ice cream, which is a limited edition ice cream for $3.99 yesterday, and it is good, and it is low fat. I also got Folger's coffee for $6.99, and Brownberry bread for $3.79.

For anybody that goes to the Jewel on Chicago Ave. in Evanston, if you go to the seasonal aisle on the Osco side of the store, they often have clearance stuff on sale for as much as 75% off. I bought a bunch of salad dressing there a few months ago for $1.25, and I just bought a jar of no sugar added Jif yesterday for $1.99. They also have a clearance section right by the milk on the Jewel side of the store. Hope this helps, Nancy

The arils (the individual juicy pouches each containing a seed) can be eaten without removing the seeds. They're good on salads, ice cream, garnishes for all kinds of canapes.

Or juice them, optionally boil them down to syrup - grenadine.

It is Medicare's policy to not allow anybody on Medicare to receive any coupons. It mentions right on Osco's websiite, that anybody that is in a state or federal program, is not allowed to receive a coupon. That means that people on Medicaid are not supposed to receive a coupon either. I asked at Osco a few months ago about receiving the 10% off coupon if you fill five prescriptions, and I was told I was not eligible because I was on Medicare.

Which Tony's had this? Unadvertised? 79c/lb for whole chickies is right up my alley. I do a spatchcocked bird at least once per week. I thought I had serious grocery game, but couldn't find these prices online anywhere.

I'm still missing anything showing those prices. Which store? Page 3 of my store doesn't show a sale that ends on Sun, only a "7 Day Baking Sale."

ETA - NM. I found one. Glendale Heights displays that sale. Interesting. Might have to search for a location that is within striking distance that has the different sales. That's a pretty drastic difference in sale offerings between store locations. Thanx!

I posted about my overall shopping this past week in the Weekly Flyer thread.
I single-out Jewel-Osco because it was unorthodox. I shopped three Jewel-Osco stores. But I did not buy anything from one of them. That is what caused the unorthodoxy.
On the 1st, I punted to go to my usual Jewel-Osco store when I am riding transit, at 4660 W. Irving Park Ave. I got there, but after about thirty minutes of not finding what I intended to buy - the J. J.'s 4-oz. pies (49¢), queued up at customer service to inquire where was it hiding the display?
It had not yet received its shipment. So I returned home empty-handed.
This re-triggered the effort to shop the Jewel-Osco at 1763 W. Howard St.; en route from the Howard “L” station to Khmai Cambodian for the LTH Holiday Party.
I arrived there. (I built in buffer time before the party.) It did have the pies. I bought four flavors: Cherry, Apple, Chocolate, and Strawberry Cream. I only had room for 12 inside my satchel, and even at that, a couple of boxes were bent.
But for 49¢ each, I wanted to buy more. These pies were what displaced Entenmann's donuts at Tony's Fresh Market from the overall store shopping roster.
So on Monday, the 5th, I called a number of Jewel-Osco stores to point-blank ask if it had the pies. The key hook here is that it had to be reachable via transit, and transit riding on the regular Ventra card gives me only two transfers within the 120 minute span. I called my regular Jewel-Osco, and the respondent uttered she was staring at a display of Apple pies.
I was not going to limit my purchase to merely Apple. It dropped off the roster.
The next two stores were at 3400 N. Western Ave. and 3570 N. Elston Ave. There was an auxiliary hook. I was going to take out dinner from a fast food outlet to bring back to the abode. So the Jewel-Osco had to be in the vicinity of that.
The telephone call to the store on N. Western Ave. (across Roscoe from Mariano's) elicited that it had gotten its shipment. It was up front near the checkout lanes. This was satisfactory. The store on N. Elston Ave. was discarded. (I'm sure you could identify which fast food outlets I could hit at Addison, Kedzie, and Elston.) It would have involved more walking.
I rode the eastbound #77 Belmont bus to Western Ave. For the person who sat across from me at the LTHF Party, whatever was Stevo's on W. Belmont remains closed for business. It still has a "For Rent" placard in its front window, and the name “Stevo's” has been scrubbed off the neon sign. There does seem to be some kind of activity; perhaps it's people repossessing their equipment from it?
Then I walked north to the Jewel-Osco at Roscoe. This Jewel had a good number of pies. Most intriguingly, it had flavors previously unseen. Which were Peach, Blackberry, Banana Cream, and Lemon Cream. I bought sixteen. My total here was $7.94.
The fast food outlet became the Popeye's Chicken at Western & Addison. I used one of the glossy coupons from a few weeks back for 3 Spicy Tenders for $5.49 {Blackened Ranch sauce}, with Cajun Rice (It's back for a limited time.), and a biscuit.
The route back to the abode was via a southbound bus on Western Ave. (I caught a route #X49 Western Express bus.) and the #77 Belmont bus west.

Late reply, but yes, the Tony's meat sale was a 3-day Fri-Sun deal. At Round Lake Beach, the chickens turned out to be small fryers, all roughly 2.75#, considerably smaller than the usual Jewel ones. Good for grilling or smoking.

To take this back in a Jewel direction, I also stopped at da RLB Jewels for the Fage sour cream. As seen before, that specific location has some unadvertised specials that sort of match the Tony's across the street, mainly on produce.

If interested, see my post on the current ad at the Tony's thread.

I had to go to Osco yesterday to get my second booster, and I decided to do some grocery shopping while I was there. I was going to get some of the $.59 cans of beans, veggies, and tomatoes, but they were really picked over, and the Folger's half caff coffee they had for $5.99 they were out of. I might go there again in a few days, and if they are still out of those things, I will just ask for a rain check. They did have the $1.77 sugar, and the $1.99 navel oranges. I don't really need the oranges, and I just bought sugar at Food4Less for $2.19 a few weeks ago. I might buy another bag of sugar though, because it will keep, and it probably will not be that cheap again until Easter.

I did get the 10% off groceries vaccine coupon this time, and they gave me one I can use. I noticed though that the coupon will only take up to $2 off.

At the Jewel on Chicago Ave. in Evanston, they had lots of frozen dinners on clearance, including a lot of gluten free and low carb Cauliflower pasta ones. Most of them were still $2.99 or more though. I got three of them, and I got a pound of Land O Lakes butter with canola oil, that was on sale for $4.49. Hope this helps, Nancy
