Post #1 - July 29th, 2020, 11:39 amIt is almost August, and August is the time for the Tarte Tatin picnic, honoring our dear friend Gail Adams, held at Larimer Park in Evanston.
Obviously this year will be a little different (sigh
).
But I propose that we go ahead with this annual celebration in August. But this year, everyone should bring their own food and their own chair (so that we can socially distance) and their own face mask. I (or someone else) will try to find individual tarte tatins - or some kind of apple desserts - the day before so we do have something to remember Gail.
Is there any interest? If so, what might be a good day for our outing.

Post #2 - August 5th, 2020, 3:06 pmHaving heard from a number of people and looking at the weather forecast, I propose that we hold the picnic on Monday August 24th at 12:30 at Larimer Park in Evanston.
I had thought of Monday August 10th, but given that the temperature will be 90 degrees that day with a chance of thunderstorms, a later date seems better.
If you will join us (bring your own food and your own chair and a mask). Bibb will bring apple tarts when she knows how many of us will be there.

With the LTH Picnic 2020 cancelled, this is our one picnic chance (it won't be the same, but it will be a picnic, sort of, and we can toast LTH and well as Tarte Tatin).
Let us know soon if you will join us and would like an apple tart. I have sent my clone to numerous events in both the 20th and 21st centuries.
O.K. - Yes. - I have lost track of where my clone is today. But I bet he has not contracted COVID-19. I might have to put on a special pair of glasses to see him.

First Evanston Lunch Group event in person in five months.
Excellent apple tarts from Beth's Little Bake Shop on Central, east of Green Bay in Evanston. Tarte Tatin would have been delighted.
