I'm enjoying all the pictures posted so far in this thread, but for the ones posted here and nowhere else, I'd love to read about the dishes in question too. Could the submitters start a thread in Shopping and Cooking, or Eating Out..., as appropriate, with some text around their picture?

Although the rules started out being that things should be linked to a thread where the pics appeared, it's obvious that this is becoming a "cool pics" thread too. (And unlike other sites one could name, we're all about adjusting to the way our users actually use the site!)

So while I agree with Amata's point that if there's a post to go with the photo I'd sure like to read it, and that's the preferred choice, I don't mind that this seems to be evolving into simply a really nice photo thread as well. It all serves the greater goal, which is to encourage more folks to take and post photos here.

As for how the judges judge things, etc., that's up to them. In the meantime, enjoy the great photos and keep 'em coming!

I don't really think this photograph has much merit, but the subject is pretty attractive, so I thought I'd share anyway...

Softshell Crab Po'Boy @ New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, 5 May 2007

The shameful admission: I didn't actually even taste this thing. There's so much great food at JazzFest, but it's hard for me to eat a lot, with the heat and the motion and the beer and... I did have an excellent undocumented cochon de lait poboy. I was telling my friend that one of these years I'm going to settle down in the Grandstand where the senior citizens retreat from the sun and just sit there all day, leaving only to buy food and return to the protected environs and eat eat eat.

Can you please describe this bite? I'd love to know what this composition consists of.

You are welcome to quote your post here for us? I never joined OA. I don't need more than one time sinkhole in my life, which LTHforum fits very nicely. :)
