Would love the blessing of our de facto chief and debonair boss of the hot sauce, ronnie_suburban. Okay with you, ronnie_suburban? I wouldn't want to be the new kid on the block who proposes a bunch of changes with my radical new ideas. At least not without being sure to be consultative with the folks who did all of the work and made this group awesome.

You want radical? How about someone wishing to bring their bicycle club? Or when I used meetup to stir up some extra tickets? Creepy guy with weird hobbies kept asking me out for drinks. I was sure it would be drugged.

It was the Chicago episode with Louis Chu as the fixer. Burt's Pizza in Morton Grove, though sadly Burt passed away.

It was actually the final piece of a weekend-long eGullet Heartland gathering that I organized in August of 2008. Louisa and I worked together to organize the visit to Burt's. And there was definitely some drama at the tables.

Now that we've hit our minimum, I started a new thread just for details about the party itself here: https://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=47433&p=598486#p598486.

It includes an updated link for our 2024 Virtual Holiday Food Bank drive--a couple of folks donated prior and it was recorded as part of our 2023 campaign--sorry about that. It will still go towards helping feed those in need this holiday season but we wanted to start the campaign fresh for this year. Unfortunately, there was no way to transfer those donations over here.
