Might be fun for some tequila folks: I'm buying a bottle for some friends celebrating a 40th anniversary. They LOOOOVE tequila. They have a shit ton of it. I'd guess at minimum 70 bottles in their house at all times. I'm looking for something interesting for 100 ish bucks, with priority to a label that references a theme of 40 (no, not proof,) or love, or anniversary, you get the drift- corny. Theme not totally necessary, but very good and interesting is.

We could easily pivot to a 100 buck red wine, if the theme matches far more.

If nothing, no biggie, we'll hit the L.P. Binny's and just meander for a while, looking for interesting bottles and cross referencing reviews.

I think Moreno's Liquors is said to have the city's biggest tequila selection. I've had really good guidance from the staff when I've asked for advice — they'll zero in on something to fit your themes if they have it.

I would wait to shop until after the Mexican Independence Day celebrations wrap up next week, since the store is sure to be insanely busy this weekend.

I agree. Wait until next week, go to Moreno's -- they have the city's most expertly curated selection of agave spirits -- and talk to Mike. He'll make it happen with something wonderful.

Paul Hletko, founder of FEW spirits, sold off that business. He told me he had a non-compete agreement from that sale, which was why he bought Goza Tequila. Good stuff — probably too good for mixing into cocktails, better for sipping.

We were giddy to try and check out Morenos, but with the festivities, we decided to meander the Binny's in Oak Brook. Grabbed a bottle of Cazcanes Reposado for the happy couple, and a Legado Reposado for us to try.

We're still gonna get to Moreno's SOON.

Yeah Moreno's is great, I should get down there again sometime. Not often in the area.
