At September’s lunch at El Sabor Poblano, we discussed having our next lunch at the newly-opened Shinsen, the Japanese-Thai Noodle/Sushi joint, where Asian Cajun Too used to reside. But currently Shinsen doesn’t open until 4 pm, which would make for a rather late lunch. So, on to Plan B.

We also discussed Plan B, and it could be an interesting contrast with July’s lunch at Frida’s. Plan B is Mid Kitchen, which has opened at the former home of Jilly’s Bistro, and before that, Creperie Saint Germain. Like Frida’s, it’s focused on breakfast and lunch. Bowls and sandwiches seem to be the lunch specialties, as seen in the menu.

As always, all are welcome. Leave a note here if you’d like to join us, so we can give the restaurant a heads-up before our lunch.

    I will be there.
Toast, as every breakfaster knows, isn't really about the quality of the bread or how it's sliced or even the toaster. For man cannot live by toast alone. It's all about the butter. -- Adam Gopnik

Is the menu available in a readable form?

My desktop computer (Win 7 Pro, 19" monitor) only showed small fuzzy figures. When I enlarged it, there were large fuzzy figures.

I then tried a near new (5 months old) Motorola Android phone. The characters were readable when enlarged, but scrolling / maneuvering around the menu was impossible as I could only see a tiny part at a time and the image bounced around a lot.

Never had this particular issue happen before. This looks like a web developer trying too hard to be cute. As a potential customer my reaction is "more trouble than it's worth."

I seem to recall there was a thread some time ago about what's wrong with restaurant websites. I think Mid Kitchen qualifies for that thread.

My experience was similar. On my desktop, I could see the menu, but only the names of the dishes were legible. The descriptions underneath were illegible. On my Android phone, it was all fuzzy but legible when enlarged.

Yes, on external sites. For example, click here.

Thanks for the link to a readable menu. However, my schedule now prevents my attending.

Thanks again -- I look forward to your report.

I really enjoyed our lunch here today. Not only was every dish delicious, but every dish was also unusual and creative, not something you've had dozens of times before.
