LTH 2024 Holiday Party Details!




Hello, LTH Friends.

I'd like to propose that we settle on a date and venue further in advance this year. I'm posting here to spark conversation / collaboration.

Last year by the time a date was picked, many of us had other commitments already.

Good timing on your post, Rebecca. Jen is on it -- something's been in the works for the last week or so. Hope to have some more details soon. In the meantime, if you're looking for a date to save, Wednesday December 11 seems the most likely candidate (but that's not set in stone).

Hi all!

Things came together really quickly and I’m happy to announce that our 2024 LTH Holiday Party is confirmed for Wednesday, December 11th at the new Logan Square location of Kie Gol Lanee (https://kiegol.com/)

We’ll have details, including menu (with lots of veg and GF options), ticket info, parking, gift exchange, Chicago Food Bank donation and more, soon.

It will be a slightly smaller max number this year—50 total—so you’ll want to RSVP relatively quickly.

I read through the reviews of this place and look forward to it.

Kindly take into account that not everyone wishes for 'fiery' food. Certainly if GF and veg can be taken into account, there can be alternatives for those who do not wish to cough up a lung.

Most of Kie Gol Lanee’s food isn’t spicy but we’ll be sure to mark anything that is.

Start training up today! I recommend a serrano chili with each meal.

If 12/11 is not yet cast in stone, I am hoping you might reconsider.
I already have 2 events for that date (this would make 3) and I would really love to attend this year. Is there any possibility the date might change?

Hi Celia,

Unfortunately, the date is set. We were pretty limited this year and couldn't go with our traditional 1st Thursday in December. The 2nd Thursday was also problematic. So, this was the best date on which we could land without it getting too deep into December. When planning these events, one comes to understand that it's virtually impossible to select a date that's conflict-free for everyone. I'm just very sorry that it's not a workable date for you.

Jen's occupied, so I'm going to start a placeholder list of attendees here. Consider this 'semi-official,' until KGL provides us with a payment portal. Beyond that, more information to follow.

Please remember that we're limited to 50 attendees on this one.

Happy to announce the final details for our very special 2024 holiday celebration!

Where: Kie-Gol-Lanee’s newest location in Logan Square (2901 W. Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL 60647) (as always, we strongly encourage anyone planning to imbibe to use Uber/Lyft/taxi/public transportation but for those driving, there is metered parking on Diversey and the cross streets.

When: Wednesday, December 11th at 6:00 p.m.
6:00-7:00 – Meet & Greet with appetizers
7:00 – Dinner followed by Dessert
8:45 ish– Gift Exchange (see info below)

Menu: An Oaxacan feast—and this will be a VERY vegetarian friendly event!



Tickets will be $72.79 and includes gratuity, tax and ticket site fee paid directly via Event Brite to the restaurant. The ticket price includes complimentary Horchata. Additional beverages will be a cash bar. There is no BYO option this year at the restaurant’s request.

We’ll continue to take RSVPs here on the thread, then send the link for payment via PM on our site (please make sure to check those messages!). We will cap attendance at 50 and reservations aren’t confirmed until payment is made on EventBrite. Once you get the link, please don’t delay and risk missing out. Those who have RSVP'd already will receive the link shortly.

Like last year, we’re hosting a virtual food drive for Chicago Food Depository. Instead of bringing food items or checks to the event, we’d like anyone wishing to participate to go to our link to make a tax deductible donation of any amount:

And, of course, it wouldn’t be the LTH Holiday party without our annual gift exchange—bring a gift, get a gift! When you arrive, drop off your gift and get a numbered ticket. Santukah Claus will distribute the gifts at the end of the meal.
