Thanks for the tip on the HP Jewel.

How were the grapes this week?

The grapes were okay. They were better than I thought they would be. They were from California. The strawberries were either too green for me, or they had mold on them. I have a pineapple that I got for $.99 last Tuesday at Mariano's that should be ready to eat now.

I just looked at the add for Jewel, and under J4U they have Weight Watchers Smart Ones frozen dinners for 3/$3. Most buy three. They also have Healthy Choice frozen dinners for 2/$5, and you get 4 times the usual points for buying them and Marie Callender.

    Hi,

It is good I read the receipt. I obtained my discount for grapes and my free rewards 18-count eggs. The eggs were otherwise priced just short of $7.

I did not get my dollar off for frozen foods, O-organic item and produce. I showed the manager all these coupons were clipped and got $3.02 returned.

Originally, I selected an O-organic can of beans for $1.99. I recalled the discussion on tomato paste, so I obtained it instead for 49 cents instead of $1.49.

I got an email from Jewel tonight stating that they have lots of items in the store where you receive 4x the points if you purchase them. The only thing I saw on the list that I would be interested in was the Healthy Choice frozen dinners which happen to be on sale right now for $2.50 The 4x the rewards program ends on 1/31. Hopefully that means that the Healthy Choice is on sale all month too. They also had Progresso soup on the list, as well as Pepperidge Farm bread and orange juice.

I was at the Jewel on Chicago Avenue in Evanston this afternoon, and I got 4x the points for Smart Ones frozen dinners, and Healthy Choice dinners. I spent $45 at Jewel, and I earned 102 points. They did not take the $3 off 3 on the Smart Ones dinners though. I considered going to CS, But I did not have my phone with me to show them that I had it. I just found out that the coupon is good until 1/31, and so I will get some more, and see if the coupon works. I think the 4x points lasts through 1/31. I am not sure if the Smart Ones and Healthy Choice dinners are on sale through then.

For people that have Krups machines, this Jewel had Green Mountain pumpkin K cups on clearance for $.99 for 12 k cups. They also had some other holiday stuff marked down to $.99. They ran out of the holiday freezer bags. I would have bought those if they had any left over. There is more seasonal clearance stuff in the seasonal aisle at the Chicago Ave. store.

Did anybody buy the cherries from Chili that were on sale for $1.77 a pound?

My mind says the cherries will be brutally bad, but this global fruit market keeps producing better fruit, year after year. I walked right by them because of my prejudice. I meant to give one a squeeze, just to check, but I didn't. I'll make it a point to give one a squeeze, and maybe sneek one down the gullet next time I go.

The Lewis/Yorkhouse Jewel had no sign of the coupon cherries. The two Waukegan stores have fairly iffy produce departments, though, with limited variety and the bad habit of putting a bunch of the produce away well before closing. I'll try again at another store. I'm willing to try a half pound or so if they look at all worthwhile.
I did find the Rockstar Saturday Sampler, though.

I had to look for the cherries today. When I finally found them, they were in bags, with probably less than a pound in each bag. They did not have a large display of them. They were next to the berries. I decided I did not need them. I bought a bag of clementines, and a few bananas, and I still have most of the grapes I bought last week, and I have most of the Fuji apples my sister gave me as well as some orange juice and some navel oranges I bought a few weeks ago.

I bought the Smart Ones dinners at Tony's, but I paid more for them. :x
The next time I go to a Jewel-Osco (Probably at 4660 W. Irving Park Rd.), I'll investigate its selections. Maybe it will have more meat-based dinners.

Jewel only has about five of the Smart Ones frozen dinners, including a beef one. I just looked on Smart Ones website, and there are a lot of dinners they make that Jewel does not carry. Target and Walmart seem to have more of a selection than Jewel does, and Walmart has them for $1.96 I believe. They are usually $2.69 at Jewel. Without the J4U coupon, Smart Ones are on sale for 3/$6. I think you have to buy three of them in order to get them for that price. I know you can only use the 3/$3 coupon on J4U once, but it does not expire until 1/31, but I do not know how long it is on sale at Jewel for 3/$6.

    Hi,

I stopped at Jewel for milk this evening. I used the laser gun to read the zebra code and got no feedback on putting it on the scale.

I did sneak a taste of a cherry. It was on the sour side, so I took a pass. If you have use for sour cherries, then this could be great for you.

Sour/tart cherries and unripe dark/sweet cherries are not the same thing. The dark sweet variety don't taste the same and lack the components that supposedly make sour/tart cherries healthful.

Next Jewel ad has some stuff for me:
    99c/lb whole chickens
    99c 8 oz fresh mushrooms
    99c/lb cosmic / honey crisps
99c Half Gallon milk (limit 1)
99c Fisher Peanut shrinkflated to 14oz (limit one)

There's probably some other 99c stuff they are pimping that other folks will be interested in. Looks like a long list of 99c "deals."

Yeah, also 99 cent bone-in pork loin (probably Hormel Always Tender) and boneless skinless chix breasts. I think the chicken is no-solution.

99 c packaged food highlights: Green Giant box vegetables - I like the Brussels sprouts myself and the peas in butter are pretty good, cake and brownie mix. Lowlights: Kraft mac & cheese - a good product but it was 50 cents not that long ago, Pillsbury soft baked cookies - got a couple pkgs of these for free, so chemical-tasting we didn't finish them.

Produce: organic pears, Cara Cara's and Texas grapefruit. Grapefruit used to be under 40 cents/lb. Citrus disease?

Bunch of liquor coupons inside the ad. Oddest is peanut butter whiskey.

And Saturday Sampler is "Starry" soda, Pepsi's new competitor for Sprite. Apparently a Gen Z alternative to the hard to find and overly sweet Sierra Mist.

I don't think the grape fruit has been under $.40 since before the pandemic. I am on a statin drug anyway, and so I am supposed to steer clear of grapefruit.

The only things I can get excited about are the $.99 shampoo, the pears and cara cara oranges, the Lean Cuisine frozen dinners, the $.99 milk and peanuts, Hills Brothers coffee, and the $1.99 Nabisco crackers. This is the third week the crackers are been super cheap. Jewel still has some of their stuff worth 4x the points, including the Healthy Choice dinners, Smart Ones dinners, and Pepperidge Farm bread. Saturday I spent $45 at Jewel, but I got 102 points. Unfortunately I don't think the Smart Ones, and Healthy Choice are on sale any more, although the coupon for the Smart Ones is good until 1/31.

Hi- I noticed that Jewel has Healthy Choice frozen dinners on sale right now for $2.49, and Healthy Choice is one of the items that gets you 4X the points through 1/31. I was at Jewel on Tuesday, and somehow I got 12 additional points, but I don't know what I got them on. When I got to Jewel they were out of red peppers, and so I had to get some yellow ones instead. Head lettuce was still $2.49, and eggs were 4.99.

I just looked at the current Jewel ad, and there is supposed to be a J4U manufacturers coupon for Charmin essentials, which brings it down to $4.99 for six mega rolls, but I just looked at J4U, and I don't see the coupon listed anywhere. Does anybody know about this? There is a coupon for $4 off any Charmins, but the coupon excludes essential products.

I used the search function for <Charmin> and it came right up, plus two other Charmin related deals.

I had the impression you may have a number of Jewel award points. For four awards, you can obtain free: Signature SELECT Softly Bath Tissue 12 double rolls.

I thought there was a Saturday sampler this week. If true, I don't yet have the coupon.

Hi Cathy- All I am getting is two offers for Charmin for $14.72, and $14.99. I also have a bunch of coupons ranging from $1 to $4 on Charmin. That is strange. I don't need toilet paper, but for $4.99 I would get it. I did have a lot of rewards because my birthday was in November, but right now all I have is two rewards, and I have 38 points towards another reward. I am going to get lots of Healthy Choice dinners this weekend that are worth 4x the points, and so I should get another reward the next time I go to Jewel. I did not see any Saturday sampler either, but most weeks I don't care for any of the ones they have anyway. They are mostly energy drinks.

I know somebody here said that they like Ithaca hummus. I have not tried it yet because Cedar's is always much cheaper. Right now Ithaca hummus is on sale at Jewel for $3.99 which is not cheap enough to tempt me, but I have a $1.50 coupon in J4U, and so that would make it $2.49, which I am willing to spend. It got the name of Ithaca because the first time they sold it in2013, they had a stand at the Ithaca farmer's market. It is currently made in Rochester, which is at least 100 miles from Ithaca.

The hummus is cold pressed, and it is the fastest growing hummus in the US right now.

Here's some descriptions of the cold process. https://ithacahummus.com/faqs/ They use cold pressed lemon juice and cool the chickpeas before blending.

The "pressed" is interesting. Their hummus is cold pasteurized by pressurizing at 68000-87000 psi. For reference, pressure inside a soda can or vehicle tire is 30-60 psi. Here's some more info on the process: https://www.hiperbaric.com/en/hpp-techn ... at-is-hpp/
