Based on the Green Bay Rd, Wilmette location, it appears as though Jewel has stopped carrying Frontera brand products. They completely scrubbed their shelves of anything from Frontera.

I just looked on their website, and the Wilmette Jewel does have Frontera chips at least. I think I have seen them there lately. They might be with the other natural stuff.

They don't have any Frontera chips on shelves as of this afternoon. I don't feel like creating an online account to fully test the ability to purchase from the location. I see it's still listed online as you state.

Frontera Salsa is on the shelf with the regular salsa at the Highland Park Jewel.

The third grocer was Jewel-Osco on W. Grand Ave. in Franklin Park. I am compelled to admit that Google™ did a good job of identifying the occluded, obscure entrance to its plaza on N. Mannheim Rd. which completely bypasses the contentious intersection of Mannheim and Grand. :!:
So I was obtaining only three 12-packs here. Browsing this store on-line displayed two new 12-packs from Pepsi labelled "Pepsi Soda Shop": Black Cherry and Cream Soda. Those would have been bought. But despite their prospect, they were not in stock.
Pepsi soda 12-packs became Pepsi Caffeine Free, Pepsi Mango, and Pepsi Wild Cherry. The other item on the list was Jewel's "Saturday Sampler": Rockstar energy drink 16-oz. can.

    Remember when I typed this?

Did Albertsons note this?! Because when I logged on Saturday to add the "Saturday Sampler" Rockstar beverage to my coupons, another free item offered was an 11-oz. bag of Signature Select tortilla chips!
There were only four bags left of this, but I scarfed it. Total here = $13.43 [credit card]

This completes the grocers. Yes, if you clicked through on the map, you definitely espied the end point - Gene's and Jude's Hot Dog Stand. The roughest part is making the second left turn from River Rd. into its parking lot {You have to hazard a belief motorists on River Rd. know there are consistently going to be vehicles wanting to enter its parking lot, and not totally block all the driveways.}. There was no line out the door here. There was no line inside either. I bought two hot dogs [It doesn't give you a receipt; but it was around $9.38 cash]. I unloaded all my change on it. [I can't shop at Aldi anytime soon.]

The last part of this mini-series is where I annotate all the 12-packs of soda now in stock in the beer cellar.

I know that Jewel well. My grandmother used to live right by there so I went often. There was also a Kmart in that strip mall, but it's been closed for a while and a Salvation Army thrift store is there now.

I was in the Wilmette Jewel on Green Bay Road tonight, and they had the Frontera chips in aisle 4 on the same side as the Pringle's. They only had two different ones in stock. I was in the store to get the Breyer's ice cream while it was still on sale. On J4U you could get two containers of Breyer's for $2.99 each, and I also had a coupon on J4U for $1 off two Breyers. I also had a coupon on J4U for a free bag of Signature Select tortilla chips, and I got some of the organic tomatoes that were on sale for $.69 a pound. I had a harder time finding my free tortilla chips, than I did the Frontera ones. BTW-Whole Foods also carries Frontera chips too, and they might be cheaper. I also saw some boxes of Cabot's mac and cheese that are on sale for 2/$3, and there is a $1 coupon on J4U for this that is unlimited. I am not sure how much longer the sale is going on. I saved 72% on my bill by using J4U tonight.

I knew this couldn't possibly be true given what I'd seen. I was just in the store and asked a manager what was up with Frontera brands being completely removed. He said the company was acquired and the acquirer has a different vision that would result in two separate lines of products, and production hasn't started. The last shipment of Frontera stuff was a month and a half ago.

Interesting on the Frontera stuff. I was in an Amazon Fresh store a few days ago, and all of the Frontera stuff was like 90% off. I checked dates and decided to load up on it for Xmas stocking stuffers for everyone.

He might've been off on the exact details. I've searched for any news, and haven't found anything. Whether ConAgra (the original purchaser in 2016) sold it off, or is doing an internal rebranding is unknown. But seebee's report from a different retailer is at least consistent with something being up. I'm kicking myself for not looking for any Frontera products at Fresh Farms.

O.K. - so it wasn't Albertson's signaling me for buying Kroger's tortilla chips. The Signature Select tortilla chips at the Franklin Park Jewel-Osco were on the bottom shelf, and that section of the chip display was partially occluded by an aisle display of other chips. As I scribed, there were only four bags left at this moment.

I was at the Wilmette Jewel on Green Bay today, and I needed some tomatoes to make tabbouleh salad. After seeing all of the options, I decided to splurge, and get one large organic heirloom tomato, which was $5.99 a pound. When I got to self checkout, I realized that the organic heirloom tomatoes were on sale for $1.99 a pound. I then decided to void my order, and go back and get some more. The tomatoes were from Arizona. The store also had one pound packages of Green Giant smashed potatoes on sale for $.49. They are all red potatoes, and they all have a seasoning in the bag. You cook the potatoes in a microwave for seven minutes, and then you smash them to mix up the potatoes and seasoning and oil.

Just a note that, on the Jewel website at least, there's no Saturday Sampler category this week. To find the free crax, it's necessary to search "Entertaining" in the offers.

Also $1.99 butter for those planning some baking.

I did not get the $4 off $40 or the $5 off $50. I did get the two free rewards if you spend at least $40. I also got double points because my birthday was last week. I have 13 rewards to use up so far. I should use them up soon, because I have heard that people in other states are hacking into peoples accounts, and stealing their rewards. One person even changed her phone number after that happened, and her rewards still got stolen.

The only things I see in the Black Friday I am interested in are the pita bread and the poinsettias.

One of the Jewel bone-in NY strips from the coupon:Image
1.1 lb, almost a porterhouse. I'm going to try the Instant Pot clone's sous vide feature. Tested with water yesterday, it keeps fairly steady set at 130F with a range of 129.5-131F.

Most of the coupon steaks were what I'd call Tbones with a few club steaks in the mix. And most had decent marbling and trim for USDA choice.

Cathy2 wrote:I read where some people were substituted ribeye.
That wouldn't be a bad deal if it were really ribeye, not "bone-in ribeye." Back when I learned my beef cuts, a slice across a bone-in rib was a rib steak. And a NY strip was cut from a short loin with tenderloin and bone removed. Slices of the bone-in short loin were porterhouse (with large end of tenderloin), tbone (with small end of tenderloin) and club (no tenderloin.)

I checked my Jewel on Saturday night for the strip steaks, and they were sold out. I generally ask the folks at the meat counter for "anything in the back" if they are out of stock in the meat cases, they are always quite friendly at the store I go to the most. One of the gentlemen told me that due to an issue with distribution, they would be subbing Tbones in the next day or two. My guess is that they just didn't change out their labeling, but they knew they were Tbones. I scored my 6 on Monday nite. Through careful picking, most of mine look more like 1.75lb - 2lb Porterhouses than Tbones, right from the prepackaged case. I didn't press my luck by going to the counter and asking if they had any big fat 3 pounders in the back. Judging by the crowds at the case, I'm guessing they were pretty busy.

Guess I shouldn't complain about getting a bit of tenderloin. I really like those double sided steaks with 2 types of meat to enjoy. The one I cooked was a cut above my usual Mexican/Central American beef. Remaining 4 were sous vided and frozen for quick steak action.

I think you get double points when you purchase the Waterfront Bistro too. My problem though is I don't have a large freezer, and they have Lean Cuisine on sale for $2.49 limit 10. There is also a Nestle rebate for $20, if you buy $40 worth of Nestle products in one purchase. There is a long list of stuff, including Lean Cuisine, Stouffer's, Hot Pockets and Di Giorno pizza.

Did anybody win the $60 Albertson's/Jewel gift card for entering the Quaker contest? I just won one. The contest took place in March. A lot of people at a Jewel Facebook page that I belong to also won.

Thank you for the detail about the Nestle combination offer.
But do not buy the Lean Cuisine frozen entrees here. They are $2.00 each with no limit at Food 4 Less this week.
