I think it was originally published under the Voracious brand/moniker. Perhaps that's the name of WaPo's food section maybe it already been published elsewhere before WaPo picked it up.

I just looked at the article in the paper and they do not give anyone else credit - but it is clearly the same article and info.

ok we tried the rao's alfredo! tossed with a bag of spinach, a lb of fusilli, and some sliced grilled chicken breast from whole foods, it was a15 minute emergency dinner of some pleasure and class. the sauce is nicely peppered and tastes completely natural, high on cheese low on glop. i am a from scratch girl - (our other dinner this week for example was three day cassoulet for which i confited duck and made toulouse) - except when i teach till 8pm. nice to know this works in such a pinch.

That's really it. When I walk in the door after a long day (every day) I just want simple. If I'm up at 6 on a weekend then it's from scratch.

And surprisingly for a packaged sauce, no garlic. How much sauce did you use? Surely not a whole jar?

we did use a whole jar for a lb of pasta - it's a smaller jar than the marinara, 15 oz.

When I make pasta with a red sauce, I am looking for a dish that I can just throw together without any thought. Saute some Sunset Italian sausage, cover it with Rao's, cook the pasta, mix together and season with fresh grated parmesean and cracked pepper - this fits the bill.

Another quick hack, my hubs loves tomato soup-I’ve been known to throw a jar in the VitaMix, purée, throw in a couple of splashes of heavy cream or even milk and heat/serve :)

I do pretty much this with Spicy V8 - if you like a little heat give it a whirl

Rao's marinara sauce is on sale at Costco. $3.00 off a two pack of 28 ounce jars, dropping the price to $9.79 or $4.895 per jar.

I tried the Alfredo sauce, it was good. I just have to figure out how much pasta to cook for a third of the jar. I think it bit of bacon would have been a nice addition to it as well.

I did finally get to try the Rao's. I've bought it again since then, I do like it. But my tongue likes the plain, non-organic, White Linen more. Haven't seen it in a looong time. It's a good amount more acidic than Rao's, iirc.

The White Linen, Costco gets it in the late summer/early fall. Usually a few weeks later it goes on sale. When it is gone there, it won't be back to the next late summer/early fall. I buy quite a bit of it when it goes on sale, so I'll have a supply till the next year. I'll post here when it comes in this year.

Has anybody tried the Mutti pasta sauce? It is on sale right now for 2/$6.99 at Jewel on a Facebook group I belong to several people said they preferred it over Rao's. Sam's Club currently has Rao's on sale 2/$7.99 for a 22 ounce bottle.

I have bought Mutti tomato paste in a squeeze tube and their ketchup at the recommendation of a friend. Both were so good, I bought BOGO Mutti pasta sauce at Jewel the other day and did not bother with Rao's. I am pretty confident I made a good choice.

I was going to buy a few jars of Mutti when I was at the Chicago Ave. Jewel in Evanston, but I did not see any there. They also did not have the salmon burgers that were B1G2 free, and they did not have Thomas WW bagels. I did get some Charmin toilet paper that was originally $18.99 and was on sale for $14.99, and then I had a $1 J4U coupon, and I had a 10% off vaccination coupon, and plus because it was a P & G product, I got 6 times the number of points for it. I have not bought any TP since this summer when I used my $15 off Flavor Adventure coupon, and only had to pay $3 for 24 mega rolls of Angel Soft.
