March 3, 2022 we ordered a Wolf induction range. May have it by the end of February 2023.

Well they do have to ship them from Wisconsin, so there's all that travel time to take into consideration.

We are planning a kitchen reno for summer and need to order an induction range soon, so I'll be eager to hear thoughts in this thread!

I've been contemplating a move to induction (we currently have a 36" Wolf gas cooktop which is in excellent condition, making the decision to replace a little harder) so this spurred me to check Abt's website. They're showing deliveries between April and August depending on which model. The Inflation Reduction Act also has some level of rebate available for moving to induction.

I love my Bluestar gas rangetop. But we will be in the market for a new kitchen at some point and I’m intrigued by induction. I’ve been thinking of buying a portable induction burner to play with in the meantime.

I purchased a portable induction burner years ago. Much more useful for outdoor use than the extra burner on my gas grill. The one caveat: fans can be extremely loud for indoor use.

This is a great idea. Among other things it'll give you a chance to play around with various pans. Even some cheap magnetic stainless ones work pretty well with induction.

I've been cooking on a portable induction burner since August. I was told I'd have the new induction range late August so I sold my Five Star gas range. Much to my surprise/dismay I'm still cooking on the portable induction burner. It actually works pretty damn well. BTW, my wife is so pleased.

    Hi,

A friend who is a food writer, recipe creator and tester does not have a conventional kitchen. She has at least two portable induction burners. She has two counter top ovens, but no stove or built-ins. Lots of refrigerators and freezers for a home based cook.

She loves her set-up. I have a feeling if they were to move, she would create a more conventional kitchen for resale.

    Regards,

Looks like I’m going to be jumping on the induction range bandwagon. As a result, I’m going to need to replace all of my cookware except for my cast iron pan and a stainless steel pot. Any tips for induction compatible cookware?

we got an induction in a renovation last year and all of our all clad cookware is still compatible. the one exception is we have a few all clad roasting pans that we like to go oven to range (for making pan gravies after roasting a chicken kinda thing) and those proved not compatible.

I've been surprised how common induction compatible cookware is. Certainly All Clad Stainless is an excellent choice if you can afford it. But I found large piles of decent quality induction compatible pans at Marshalls/HomeGoods/TJ Maxx for fairly reasonable prices. Stainless saucepans, Dutch ovens, stockpots, usually with glass lids. Lots of nonstick skillets of various sorts, even a scarce few Scanpan and All Clad.

We bought the kid a few David Burke brand pans, so far so good. I'm pretty much going induction compatible on all purchases just in case...or in wishful thinking

If you're going bargain hunting at TJ Maxx or Marshall's bring a magnet. Check pans before you buy anything, some you think are compatible, aren't. Some you think aren't compatible, are.

An inventor buddy of mine designed a magnetic disk to place on top of the "burner" that transferred the heat and allowed you to use any type of pot or pan. Sadly he died before he could do anything w/it besides use it himself.

Very similar. Curious when this came out? He did his about 10 yrs ago after seeing my single induction burner in action.
