Hi,
I cooked in someone else's kitchen yesterday.
Long divorced man who has been on his own forever it seems. He has always been very helpful to my family. His dog is a brother to a dog in our family circle. Brought the dogs together for a fabulous time of brotherly love. The drive home was so peaceful, because the dog was exhausted.
I brought a brownie mix and a silicon spatula. I checked if he had eggs, but never dreamed to ask about butter or cooking oil. Yep, he had just over three tablespoons butter and no cooking oil. I used the least amount of butter to grease the pan, then melted the rest for the brownies. I added another tablespoon of water to make up the volume lost by not enough butter or oil. The brownies turned out fine.
This guy's old home had no dishwasher. I don't know how he managed this, but the new home has no dishwasher, either. I hand washed all the dishes to be a good guest. The soap dispensers at the sink seemed more like hand soap and he was uncertain about what they were. I used them, because there was nothing else to consider.
Next time I will bring something cooked from home to eat as-is or heat up. His home does now have a silicon spatula, because I forgot it.
Generally, I really don't like using other people's kitchens.
Regards,
Cathy2
