I wonder what the legal ramifications would be in Illinois? With the stronger laws here?

If it's voluntary, it's legal. They have to tell you what they're doing with it, though.

Moetchandon and I each got a check for about $300 from the class action suit against F*c*b**k over this.

Amazon is the antichrist, what could possibly be at issue here? Doesn't matter to me, I've seen to reason to go into Whole Foods for anything since the Amazonication which gutted it of anything I couldn't get somewhere else.

    From the Bon Appetit article:
"If this whole pay-with-a-flick-of-your-palm thing seems like a grossly over-engineered solution for a carton or two of Oatly, that’s because it is. At Whole Foods, Amazon One seems comparable to using Apple Pay. But Jeff, of course, has bigger plans: to sell the tech to third parties and achieve total world domination in his lifetime. There’s a version of reality out there where we can swipe our palms to enter stadiums, live shows, private office buildings, and the subway—all courtesy of Amazon One."

There are a few things I get at Whole Foods. I love their Amy Lu Michigan cherry chicken sausages, and Jewel does not carry them. I also love their Amy Lu chicken burgers. Whole Foods frequently puts them on sale. I also get all of my peanut butter at Whole Foods, and most of my plain yogurt, as well as their WW pita bread. Jewel quit selling WW pita bread last year. This last winter WF also had Amy's burritos on sale for $1, and I ended up buying 25 of them. WF also has a much better hot bar and salad bar than either Mariano's or Jewel, and their prices have gone down since Amazon took them over. WF is more convenient for me than Mariano's is anyway.

I definitely would not be interested in having pictures of my hand taken though, but it sounds like you can opt out.

Yes, I read that. As I said, they are in the same space as Apple’s Face ID. I don’t see it as fundamentally different.

This is really interesting. I wonder how many of WF's libby customers know whose salary they are paying.

I believe it was last Thanksgiving, a media outlet did a comparison shopping of the Lincoln Park and Englewood WF. Not surprisingly the Englewood WF was cheaper in direct comparison to their Lincoln Park location.

John Mackey is stepping down as CEO though. When he was the CEO he was told by the board not to get into politics, but now he can since he is stepping down.

He's creating a wellness brand with spas/restaurants. He'd be well advised to keep his politics out of that as well.

Well, I suppose selling overpriced spa treatments and organic foods to hipsters is as good a way to get revenge as any.

Cathy, do you remember if the assortment of foods at WF was the same in Lincoln Park as in Englewood?

I have a sister that lives in New Orleans. In the New Orleans area, there are three WF stores. The closest one to her is on Magazine, and the second store is in Metairie. Both of those stores are typical WF stores, and they are in an area with a lot of people that can afford the store. The third store is on Broad Street, and I have only been in that store a few times. That store is in an area of New Orleans similar to Englewood. That store is not as large as the other two stores, and does not sell as much of the higher priced items that the other two stores do.

I have passed it many times, though I never stepped in. I so rarely go to Whole Foods, I could not even begin any comparison.

My information was totally related to whatever media outlet did a one-to-one Thanksgiving shopping list comparison of costs between Englewood and Lincoln Park stores.
