    They have three locations.
My brother and I had business on north shore yesterday so stopped by Cozy Corner (their Clark/Devon location) for chilaquiles breakfast. CC offers both rojo & verde as well as a choice of meats. Brother had verde w/chicken, I the rojo w/chorizo (very good quality chorizo btw) with eggs over easy not scrambled. Both versions were really enjoyable, not a speck left on our plates. Thanks for the recommendation gnarchief (& thanks as well to all the other LTH recs, looks like I've got lots of versions to try).

Side note: Mrs Willie & I went to Gails Carriage Inn this morning, a Des Plaines a semi regular breakfast rotation spot for us. Guess what was one of the specials today, chilaquiles! :-) So of course had to have again. Lots of good textures, cheese, chorizo, only thing missing was more verde salsa, it was a bit light.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

In Bucktown, both The Bristol and Toast have Chilaquiles on the menu. Bristol's version is always on the menu, and is red-sauce based, with pork, pork belly, and a fried egg. It isn't spicy, but they will give you a side of hot sauce (I think made in-house). I think they make the chips in-house too. Toast's version is a special, so not always on the menu. It's green-sauce based, with spanish rice and eggs. It comes with a side of house-made spicy red sauce.

Fonda Fontera (formerly Xoco) has chilaquiles on their menu... my protip is to go on Saturdays when they have goat barbacoa as the daily special, and ask them to put some on the chilaquiles. They've never charged me the same amount twice for the addition (everything from $2 to $5) but it is amazing and worth it!

the lady loves the Chilaquiles from Park View Diner on the NW corner of 19th and Damen. I love everything from this place. They offer free homemade soup before every meal you get. The homemade hot sauce is amazing! The chicken mole on the weekends is really good too. Everything is cheap and homemade.

We live a couple of blocks from here and as a huge fan of chilaquiles I was thrilled to see Sula's write up on these a month or two ago. We went in over the weekend, and I'm sad to report, they were possibly the most disappointing Ive ever had. The salsa completely drown out the tortillas, and there wasn't a crunchy contrasting bite to be had amongst the green (though admittedly flavorful) mush.
Chalk another vote in the very disappointing column for the chilaquiles at Brothers. I went this morning, had the rojo version as I like the rich taste of chilies. As another huge fan of chilaquiles, I too ended up with a version that had no crunchy contrast and worst yet, the rojo version was nothing but heat, there wasn't even a hint of chilies complexity. (& I like heat)

Edited to add: I was the only person in the restaurant at 7:30 this morning, not like they were busy.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

I saw folks having chilaquiles today at La Cuetzala at Clark and Jarvis. I go there for the excellent tamales nejos, a weekend special, which you can have with mole rojo and/or mole verde. There is an ongoing lenten special advertized on the whiteboard (among other items): chilaquiles de mole verde con camarones. If it is served with the same mole verde as that which is available with the tamales nejos, I imagine it is a fine dish. I did not review the menu to see the other options for the chilaquiles, but both of their moles are excellent, the mole rojo deep, spicy, and complex and the mole verde lighter but satisfying in its own right.

Interesting to see Chilaquiles on a dinner menu so I opted for them last night at Taco Diablo in Evanston.

A solid version of Chilaquiles with guajillo salsa, shredded chicken (pork available as well), and a well-cooked sunny side up egg.

    Taqueria Mexico 2000
    967 1/2 Elmhurst Rd

They serve chilaquiles all day. The rojo was good, not great (missing texture variance & indepth flavor). I did enjoy the epazote when it was in my bite of food.

Does anyone remember Cafe Azteca at the corner of Wells and North Avenue? We loved that place...they had a really pretty patio. My favorite entree was their Chilaquiles - made with chicken. I'm wondering if the ones at Taco Diablo would be similar. Guess I need to try them.

Danny's EggHead Diner has not been open on SUNDAY MORNINGS :(
Several times, we've tried to go-
and they (whoever answers the phone) claim that they cannot find staff to work (meaning to cook the food).
Sad- because I really enjoy taking The Parents here for brekkie, as well as visiting guests, etc.
    Danny's is Easy to Park-+ Great Food + Fresh Squeezed Juice(s) + efficient service;
the whole thing seems strange, I speculate there must be something other than not finding cooks?

"Miss Chill O'Kyle's" (as Siri calls it) is solid. My one bife is their hours - not consistent, even with big signs indicating 7 AM every day, which makes it less fun to try to kidnap people to on the way to or from Midway. They unlocked the door at 8:15 AM today.

The basic chilaquiles in one of ten scratch sauces are $4 and change, and I usually go for the chorizo add-on and a cafe de olla - rustic, burnt on occasion, definitely not some industrial syrup - and am out the door sub-$10. This rendition was the Poblano, which is essentially a perfect Bechamel lightly flavored with mild capsicum. I get the spice and flavor contrast from the tasty table salsas.* Plates come with fried potatoes and really nice frijoles charros.

*Complimentary with chips, which is like getting a side of bread with your sandwich at Panera

I've been recently turned on to Saturday and Sunday brunch at a fairly new family operated restaurant in my part of town, East Rogers Park. I'd put the chilequiles at Rogue Fusion (7027 N. Clark) up against any I've had anywhere. I've only had the salsa verde, but boy they're tasty. I love grabbing a bottle of champagne and a carton of orange juice and having my own bottomless mimosa brunch at this friendly, often empty, comfortable cheap Mexican spot. The menu is full of typos, but I think the food is first rate. I don't know why more folks haven't discovered it.

We haven't tried the brunch at Rogue Fusion, but we enjoyed our one dinner there of tacos and want to return. Chilequiles sound like a good reason to try their brunch.

I'm a big fan of the food at Rojo Gusano on Lawrence. For brunch, I always order their steak chilaquiles with salsa verde (they do salsa roja as well).

They have some pretty delicious tacos as well (my favorites being the charred butternut squash and the curry shrimp).

They may need a little assistance on getting the eggs cooked correctly but overall I love coming here. Good soundtrack, cool vibes, and delicious food. Unfortunately, it seems to be empty most of the time when I go so I'm hoping more people check it out.

Had a very good one today on the west side...

The green salsa packed a big punch, the thicker chip soaked in the green still had a crunch, the crema was not too sour.

I put the eggs on top and let them join the party too. :)

I just can't get enough of the Chilaquiles at El Habanero on Fullerton in Logan Square. Every component is flavorful on its own and the textural variation of the chilaquiles themselves -- from crunchy to saturated with potent salsa -- is notably satisfying. Earlier this week, I opted for the verdes with eggs over-easy . . .

The Best Thing You've Eaten Lately thread is generating significant chilaquiles discussion, so I wanted to bump this thread and see where everyone is currently finding their best renditions.

Lately I've been making the trip to Titzal Cafe in Uptown, Jabare in Tri-Taylor and El Habanero in Logan Square for standout chilaquiles. But since I'm always willing to add another place to the rotation, I'm looking for other suggestions. Any new (or tried and true) spots putting out your favorite version?
