Interesting. That space wasn't built out all that long ago. Perhaps we can hope they're replacing those unfortunate chairs?

Not exactly thrilling news but Panera will be moving from the location on Waukegan Rd near Carson's Ribs into a new outlot building next to Jewel and City BBQ at Deerbrook Mall off Lake-Cook Rd near Waukegan sometime in the near future.

Perhaps, but during my last visit the air duct/ventilation was dripping on me while I sat and ate, so hopefully they are making more thorough renovations as well.

From the Facebook page of Tiztal Cafe, home of the best chilaquiles (IMHO) and oatmeal shake around:

Hello to the best customers in the Chicagoland area!
We would like to remind you that Tiztal Café will be closed for the month of October for some major renovations to our storefront and kitchen. We are very excited to show you these changes and we expect to be back November 1st to continue to offer our amazing Chilaquiles and Oatmeal shakes! We will keep you posted with any updates.
Thank you all for your support throughout these years and we hope to see you all at our Grand Reopening!

Sounds like they're actually closed for renovations and not (permanently) "closed for renovations."

Looks like the Reveler is open on the corner of Damen and Roscoe in Roscoe Village. It replaces the Riverview Tavern that was on the corner. Another bar and grill replaced by another bar and grill.

They have both pan and thin with a few fried appetizers and salads. I hope to give the pan a try within a week or two.
I missed this post in July (it was at the end of page 13), but I thought I'd re-post it for those of us who might be interested because Lefty's looks exactly like the Pequod/Burt style.

It's getting to be an option on menus at other pizza places. I was at a friend's recently and they ordered from Tortorice's (surprisingly not bad). One had a "caramelized burnt cheese crust."

The fact this place didn't have any decent photos of their pizza on either Google or Yelp was driving me crazy. I eventually caved and got their pan 2.5 weeks ago (picked up at halftime, right before NU's collapse vs Akron).

As you state, it is in the mold of Pequod's. However, since I'm not that big a fan of Pequod's, I liked Lefty's a little more because it wasn't as bready, w/ a base closer to Malnati's in thickness. The only topping was spinach, so I can't speak to their sausage. I'm hoping to try the thin this month, since I prefer that style 98% of the time.

Pequod insider tip: Don't like bready dough? Order LIGHT DOUGH at Pequod and you'll get it thinner like Burt's (or Lefty's I guess).

They are, however, a hell of a lot more authentic than what you find in 99.9% of Chinese restaurants in America (at least according to my girlfriend and my own opinion after eating at some decent higher end (but not "high end") restaurants in a few cities in China).

Just a heads up for anybody into trying "new" foods. I notice there is a new Chinese "Steam Pot" place that opened in Chinatown (not in the main drags though) within the last month or so. According to my girlfriend, it's kind of a fad in recent years that started in Guangdong (near Hong Kong) - it's not that common in the US yet. I only know of 2 places in NYC that do it (both in Flushing), but when I had it a year ago it was pretty good. Steam Pot is mostly for seafood where you pick seafood and at your table there is a steamer where it cooks (via steam of course).

This place has lobster, shrimp, clam, oyster, sea bass, eel, king crab, dungeness crab, abalone, etc etc as well as frog, pigeon and turtle (turtle also tastes like chicken - it's pretty good) as well as the usual suspects of chicken, lamb, pork, and beef.

    Original Steam
2428 S Wallace Street (Wallace between Archer and 24th near the expressway)
    (312) 888-2170
    Open everyday from 4pm - 2am

Very cool, Original Steam interests me more than yet another ~spicy~ bag of seafood joint. Looks like they are right across the street from Park to Shop, a terrific Chinese grocery. 4pm to 2am daily, I plan on checking Original Steam out, thanks for posting.

Pastoral Andersonville (5212 N. Clark St.) plans to close after brunch Oct. 21. The youngest location for the wine, bread and cheese shop opened in 2015 with a full-service restaurant, Appellation. Co-owner Greg O'Neill promises that all of the other Pastoral locations will remain open.
