I received an e-mail invite for the pre-opening final run through last night before opening for real today.

My wife and I were pretty surprised that even with a full restaurant they were able to get the food out in less than 5 minutes.

I loved my burger, as mentioned before there are no crispy edges, but it was not overcooked mine was medium and no more. I also loved the bun. I though the fries were very good, although I was not a fan of their cajun seasoning. The hand dipped chocolate milkshake was not bad either.

This is a great addition for this area as there isn't much else around here for lunch. I look forward to going back.

I still haven't received an email. The irony is I'll probably want a double and not use the free coupon. This place truly sounds like a clone of Five Guys, but if the food is great, that's all that matters.

Had lunch at the new Northbrook location today. It really is a clone of Five Guys - minus the peanuts, plus milk shakes. The thin, fresh cut, Cajun fries were excellent and perfectly cooked and the bacon burger was right up there with Five Guys, Fat Burger, or Johnny Rockets. The only thing that was a bit off for me - they put chocolate sprinkles in the milk shakes and don't tell you. A coffee or strawberry milkshake with chocolate sprinkles just isn't appealing and I should have been warned beforehand.

Stopped by Meat Heads in Northbrook tonight. I got a double with bacon and an order of well done fries. The fries were very good, not as thick as Five Guys, but I liked them a lot. I grabbed a shaker with cajun seasoning for a little kick. My burger came...without bacon. They then gave me two measly pieces of bacon to put on the burger. It was pretty good, the patties were not as thick as Five Guys. I like Five Guys more overall, but Meat Heads was good. I also tried a chocolate shake. It was really average. Kind of bland too. I'm going to pass on that in the future.

Thing1 and I decided to try Meat Heads tonight.

Well, it's a burger, fries and a shake. I enjoyed it, although both of us thought that perhaps something had been left off our burgers from the various toppings we selected.

I like that most of the toppings and sauces are complimentary. That's a big pro, when many places will charge $.50 to $1.00 each for minor things like bleu cheese sauce (which I didn't taste any of, they may have forgotten).

Burger: Decent beefy flavor, nothing that makes me do the snoopy dance.
Fries: Very good skin-on fries, crisp enough for me, salty enough too. Thing1 had the Cajun which he thought had a slight cinnamon scent. Weird, but I think he's right.
Shake: Good ice cream flavor that I don't get from, say Steak'n'Shake, but the Chocolate was a little weak.

Will I go back again? Yeah, probably, especially if the First-1000 coupon comes through. According to the young woman at the counter, they're not sending any out until they get all 1000. Something funny about their marketing company.

Went to Meatheads yesterday for lunch and the place was busy. This place should be tried by all who are looking for fantastic french frys! They are some of the best in the area. The burger was good, just not spectacular. And I do agree with a previous post that the chocolate shake needs more chocolate flavor. I will go back, the frys are calling me now.

I met my brother for a quick lunch at Meat Heads in Northbrook on Friday. My double bacon burger was very good and the fries were excellent. Meat Heads is very good, but I still like the burgers at Five Guys more.

Reading this post reminded me that I never received my email coupon for a free burger. Did anyone else get one?

I did. They were sending them alphabetically by last name, with a certain number of names per week. Mine arrived the week before last and I'm in the middle of the alphabet. Haven't used it yet.

I tried this place a couple weeks ago. I agree with those who note that it's basically a Five Guys clone, but with a more Chipotle/Starbucks decor. I found the decor, which I'll call "modern fast food franchise" a bit strange, given the fact that they're selling burgers, fries, and shakes. It almost feels like a sushi place or pan-Asian.

Burger was good, but not as good as I've had from Five Guys. Meat wasn't very juicy or flavorful, and didn't have that fresh beef flavor.

Fries were fabulous. Thin-cut fresh-cut fries are a rarity (only other place I can think of that does them is Muskie's) and these were just great. Very crispy outside, great soft potato texture inside and great fresh potato flavor. Loved'em.

Their prices are about 10% lower than Five Guys across the board, but I still found them to be high given the product. A burger, fries and drink shouldn't approach ten bucks.

I chatted for a while with a guy who appeared to be a corporate manager or trainer or something....young, nice, pretty enthusiastic...eager for feedback. Given that they only have three locations, I'm fairly impressed with the overall package. It seems like a very well-capitalized company that's really got their ducks in a row, rather than some new, upstart chain. My guess is that they've got some decent seed money and are positioning themselves to be purchased by one of the bigger dogs in the fresh burger genre.

I haven't received mine yet either. But my friend got his, and his last name starts with 'E' while mine is 'M.' I guess it won't be long.

This 'K' got his a few weeks back. I am going this weekend.

Unlike 5 Guys, which I 'discovered' in DC last month, I can take my kids to this place, as there are no peanuts.

There was talk at the village council meeting last week that a Meat Heads
may be coming to the empty Tweeter location at Townline and Milwaukee in Vernon Hills.
This is at the entrance to Hawthorn mall.

LQD Financial, which provided Meatheads a $6.65 million loan at 17 percent interest in 2019, has moved to have the chain's bankruptcy filing dismissed, calling it a "stunt Crave's former manager pulled to stay in charge."
