Thank you. Very good call but the friends we're going with were just there on Friday, so we need some alternatives.

The only other place I'm enthusiastic about is JeonJu, which I'm almost certain does not take reservations. (I hope it's still open!) I guess you could start with this guide, which may be a bit out of date by now.

Yeah, JeonJu is a great call. I'd totally forgotten about it. My pre-covid hard drives have largely been wiped clean. :(

Also, appreciate the link to the guide - thanks!

Seeing as it's no less "north shore" than Ttowa, Tang at Golf Mill is a good newer establishment.

    Tang Korean Restaurant
    8257 W Golf Rd, Niles, IL 60714
    (224) 534-7541
(No reason to believe they don't take reservations)

    Thanks. I've never been there.

nb . . . the thread says "north shore" but I said "north suburbs." I didn't think starting another thread made much sense. For me, if it doesn't touch the lake, it's not on the shore. Most realtors would probably disagree.

A favorite of the LTHNLG. Even though BBQ is in the name, there’s a huge menu of non-bbq stuff. They take reservations.

How about Haewadall on Milwaukee, just north of Golf? Not sure if they take reservations, but their specialties are agujjim (braised monkfish? stew), jokbal and bo ssam.

Their menu seems focused on lots of dishes that are generally served while drinking in Korea. Been a few years, but now Ive got a craving to go back.

Thanks, for the additional leads. I see so many Korean places when I drive up and down Milwaukee in the Niles/Glenview/Morton Grove area, and while I've been to a handful of them, I'm always curious about the many others.

As for Tang, I do know it. It's in the same strip mall as Himalayan -- where we used to go with some regularity, pre-covid -- and we tried to go once for lunch but it was on a Tuesday and they're closed on Tuesdays. Sounds like I need to make another attempt.

Is Buffalo Grove too far west to be north? There’s a mom & pop type place we like a lot called Golden Durebak in the large strip mall at the NW corner of Dundee and Buffalo Grove Road. The owner used to have a spot in the Mitsuwa Market food court, we were told. It isn’t as fancy an atmosphere as Ttowa, but then the prices aren’t fancy, either.

No, not too far west at all. One of the couples will be coming from Lincolnshire. Thanks for the heads up.
