Given my love of pears, I expected to love this latest Haagen-Dazs flavor, but it tastes strange. The pear flavor is overwhelming, and the frozen pear chunks are quite bitter.

I just don't understand how this ice cream beat 4,999 others. Perhaps it tasted great fresh in Gourmet's test kitchens but couldn't be reproduced commercially.

Has anyone else tried it?

I have. Pears are probably my favorite fruit, but I can't say it did much for me, either.
