    As I mentioned elsewhere, PNA occassionally has náam phrík àwng, or Northern Thai-style minced pork and tomato "dip," available for sale:

    This tangy, sweet, and spicy dip is largely comprised of ground pork, chopped tomatoes, and mild chile paste, and is most suitably accompanied by straight-forward garnishes like crisply-fried pork skins (khàep mũu), sliced cucumber (taeng kwaa chín), pickled cabbage (phàk kàat dawng), grilled shrimp (kûng phão), and blanched yard long beans (thùa fák yao tôm).

    NB This is an altogether non-spicy and elemental version of náam phrík àwng, and, as such, it ranks somewhere near the bottom on my scale of "difficulty," as Thai foodstuffs go. With your eyes closed, you might even mistake it for a sweet meat ragù. :wink:

    Are these considered snacks or noontime/dinner meals traditionally?

    Náam phrík generally constitute just one element in an array at mealtime:

    That is how I best enjoy them, but you are free to do as you please.

    * Central Thai-style grilled fish "dip" (with pork skins, pickled cabbage, and sliced cucumber), fried pork patties, pickled bamboo shoot salad, and sticky rice.
