Finally, the world's longest (or it seems that way) restaurant buildout is complete. The spot formerly known as Pete Miller's and way back in the late 90s Crawdaddy Bayou (thanks JoelF) has morphed into the Wheeling branch of Boston Fish Market. I had lunch there today with a client to verify that all is good. Louie was in the house and it passed with flying colors. I'll post more about it later.

Please join the LTH North Lunch Group on the 18th for some deep fried and broiled seafood goodness. As always, bring a friend.

I will try to make it, but there's just only so many eating opportunities one can survive in December.

Tentatively in, but like Joel. not sure I can survive EVERY food opportunity this month. Saturday a conservation group plans to go to 7 Spices. There's the Evanston group on Monday, and I have a dance group going to Furama North on Thursday.... And I historically have pot lucks both New Year's Eve and New Year's day that I have to hold a belt notch in reserve for...

13 minute drive from work? I think this could work. I didn't even know there was another location! I Love BFM!

I don't think I will be able to find another, unique gem, like Choriso and Jalapeno pizza though... :)

Good choice, Dave! A great place to celebrate "Festivus For The Rest Of Us."

Can't make it to this. Office mates and I have been eagerly awaiting the opening for a while. Just wanted to say, that as good as the fried oysters are, (among everything else that's great, I guess) one time an office mate ordered the cajun halibut, and it was probably one of the top 5 pieces of cooked fish that was not fried I've had in my life, and I LOVE fish, all preps. Since then, I've never gone with enough ordering power to get it again. Not sure I mentioned that in the main thread. I like all of their food, for the most part, I just can't go there and not stuff myself silly with fried ersters.

I'm confused why you are not going???

But if I can make it, I'm looking forward to ordering the smelt; I've never had them before.

Interesting, and I've never seen this before. In google maps, if you click on the little man that you can drop on the map to go to street view, it shows you can drop it anywhere along Milwaukee. However, once in street view by the restaurant, it shows a series of Xes for photo spots along a loop back into and out of the parking lot. This is NOT shown on map view, only from street view. I wonder how many more hidden photo spots like this there are? Has anybody noticed this before?

Also FYI the street view shows it as empty Pete Miller's but the letterboard says "Boston Fish Market Coming Soon"

I have minor dental surgery at 8:20 in the morning. It was then or wait till next year.
IIRC, last time something similar (same specialist) there was no prohibition on eating, just a suggestion I wouldn't feel like it (but then, I decline Novocaine so that may make a difference). Maybe it will keep me from overeating? And there is a slight chance I'll be told I can't go.

    Thanks for setting this up!

On the clock I ordered ahead and ate out of the carry out containers.

9453EE55-CFB0-455F-AEE4-14BDBC2D26FF.jpeg 1/2 lb of Perch portion of the dinner

As Jodie Foster mentioned in the movie Contact...
... seems like an awful waste of space
    :)

I am positive it would of comfortably fit in one of the containers the sides came in.

    05664412-F45D-45D7-84A1-2F9B5BE3D72D.jpeg Sides

Actually after I ate a few of the pieces I was able to take the majority that was left and add it on top of the sides (along with a couple of pieces of the awesome garlic bread).

As good as the original location, a spacious place with a big bar area.

Would of loved to stay but I managed to dash back and make it in just under an hour.

One last note, I had simply ordered a Perch Dinner and was expecting breaded. The filets with just butter, garlic with a squeeze of lemon was delicious.

Well, that's as far as I can get, further attempts to attach pictues give me a mesage that the file is invalid. I've tried re-cropping, re-saving, using the original from the camera, even making a .png file instead of .jpg

Didn't take any pictures, but BFM's fare for the LTHNLG was high-quality start to finish. Standouts were the absolute size & breadth of the zuppa di pesce, which even at $52.99 could have amply fed 4-6 folks even if there was nothing else. And Cathy took home the last remnants of mussels and the broth--which was sublime--to put over pasta last night.

Louisiana-style catfish was really nice, fried combo platter including smelts for Katie were quite good. Dandelion greens were similar to a chard and very tasty with a squeeze of lemon. There was a huge portion of medium rare tuna with onions, great for sharing. Thanks Vital for the tip to do this whole deal family-style.

We also ordered two Greek salads with octopus, which were fine except curiously-priced at $24.99/per, somewhat out of line for what it was, mostly salad with a sparing amount of very tasty grilled polpo.

Service was spot-on, and I'd like to see how that goes on a zoo-ey weekend evening. I'll be back for sure. EC, this time ya done good.

Well, that explains one thing. The second photo rejected, I recropped it slightly and it accepted. The third rejected, I recropped it twice, but still rejected...but that was a much larger dish.

    (1) would be nice if the error message said "too big"
    (2) Gotta make things difficult? Gotta be 798, not an even 800? I have a program that will easily reduce a picture to 800x800 but according to the post it will have to be a two stage affair, reduce, then crop two more pixels

Is it each dimension, or is it less than 799 squared pixels? That would not be difficult, since a rectangle reduced to 800 in the max dimension would fit.

I could not imagine doing it any other style.

I think people thought we may have under ordered. I knew the portions were such, you could easily be overwhelmed with food. It was great.

The sauce I took home will be today's lunch. A friend unexpectedly dropped by with egg rolls, which effectively wiped out everyone's need for dinner.

At $23 pp, this was a great meal.

First two photos in previous posting (salad and bread). Maybe I should have reposted here and deleted that, but I have been warned to not delete posts (so I only delete or edit within a few minutes of their origin).

    DSCN0174.JPG Zuppa Di Pesce
    DSCN0176.JPG Great Lakes Combo Platter
    DSCN0177.JPG Louisiana Style Catfish

DSCN0179.JPG sides (supposed to be multiple dishes combined, or from what?)
    DSCN0180.JPG Dandelions
DSCN0181.JPG Tuna Dinner w/ Grilled Onions

Normally, I can take or leave onions, but they were VERY good with the green sauce that nobody else seemed to have used. I wonder if the green sauce would have improved that tuna that was still superb without it, since I tried the sauce after the tuna was all consumed.

Sorry last photo is rotated. When I rotate in my editing software, it just marks the file rotated, which other programs recognize but LTH does not. I'd have to load into a different editing program to REALLY rotate the bits, and I don't recall which program that is at this point (I did find it once before).

I should bring a small ruler and put in all the photos. The scaling makes them all look about the same size, but the first two, salad, and last were 3-10 times bigger than the others.

Note: I don't think the limit is "under 799 x 799 pixels". I searched help and hint files but could not find a published figure. From what succeeded and what failed, I suspect the limit is 2 MB.
