Where to pick apples and see the fall colors?

Hello,

I'd like to get out of the city one of these October weekends to enjoy the leaves, pick some apples and have a picnic with some friends. Can anyone recommend a scenic apple-picking place, or barring that a really nice forest preserve, within 30 minutes of the city limits?

I picked up 10# of cortlands at the Apple Barn in Sugar Creek Wisc.Its about 5miles north of Elkhorn and about 2 hours from sw Chicago.They were great,very firm and sweet.Check their website for picking schedules.
