No, that's not it. I've never been to Pancho Viti's -- but with that name they should definitely try to get a copy of this poster! :)

    La Decima Musa?

I'm not sure I've actually seen this poster there, but it's certainly in sync with the kind of stuff they have in their huge back room.

Hey, I don't care about the restaurant; I want to ride with Pancho Villa.

    Viva la revolución!

No, perhaps they have a copy, but that's not where I took the picture.

(p.s. Antonius, don't ride off to New Mexico without me! Maybe we should just watch this movie again...)

    Interesting guess. But not correct.

(Besides, the restaurant pictured above is east of Damen...)

    Hmm,

I really thought I stared at this sign at Damenzo's during our beefathon visit. :x

That poster is a real recruitment poster (or reproduction) used by Pancho Villa in 1915, so there are probably a bunch of places that have it.

I hope Pancho had the foresight to license "Be All You Can Be" so that his estate got some kind of compensation when the US Army started using that tagline in the 80s.

Is it La Pasadita on Ashland & Division..?
If it is I believe it's the one on the west side of the street and the furthest north..maybe..?

GS, I had forgotten about this thread so thanks for reviving it. Perhaps the "Hey Gringo" poster is all over town, but the place where I took the picture is not La Pasadita, sorry.

Time for hints, I guess. First of all, I know at least several LTH-ers have eaten at this restaurant. On the day I took the picture I had an order of tlacoyos:

    Any guesses now?

Just ate lunch at BomBom Cafe on Ashland, they had the poster there. But, seeing as it was in the men's bathroom, I'm guessing it's either not Bombon or it was Antonius, not Amata, who took the picture. :)

Actually, it might just be BomBon cafe as they have tlacoyos on the menu.

GWiv, you get the golden tlacoyo. Yes, Bombon Cafe. (That's a unisex bathroom they've got there, you know... :) )

Amata, tell me more about this "tlacoyos". I am intrigued by your photo. I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't had one before, or ever heard of one for that matter... (had to look up the definition online - look below)

    tlacoyos
"This is one of the oldest antojitos of all. Tlacoyos are made by patting tortilla dough around a filling, often of squash blossoms, huitlacoche or mushrooms, until fully enclosed into an elongated shape, which is then cooked on a comal."
    ( photos of a "comel" [1] [2] [3] )

What do these tlacoyos taste like? What is the consistency? Are they sort of like a pupusa..?

    Amata,

Yes, right, unisex. I remembered that about 10 minutes after I posted and was well away from a computer until just a short while ago.

Speaking of Bombon Cafe, I had a very nice torta and pineapple water for lunch.

    Enjoy,
