    Ed Debevic's?

Haha, I thught someone would guess that, def. not in that I havent been there in 20+ years and dont plan on stopping in anytime soon or later.

Nope, not a bad guess with the colors and all but that "Rock N Round the Clock" photo is another clue and you cant do that at Muskie's.

I can assure you that shakes aren't advertised on the window at Wiener's Circle. I understand they're one of those "secret menu items" so popular around here. Phil's guess of Harlo Grill is correct, by the way.

    What he said...

The 24 hour Harlo Grill, great for a greasy burger after 2a and home to one of the best old school neon signs in Chicagoland (although I don't think it works anymore).

No, I had no idea at first. I've never been inside Harlo Grill so the original clues didn't help me much. I was trying to think of places with burgers-malts-shakes painted on the windows and possibly with some non-right angles but came up empty. When Phil mentioned Harlo that immediately sounded right so I found a photograph online and confirmed it. I need to visit one of these days.

Wow, shocked you haven't already. I wont consider one of these in which I stumped you a success until its a southside place. Well anyway, you should def. check it out, you'd love the vibe in there on a weekend night with the grill man flipping burgers and serving cups of chili like crazy. Just a good old fashioned greasy diner burger. Someone on Yelp mentions it's the closest thing to Cock Robin (never got to try). The double cheeseburgers are best as is the 1/2 pound Harlo burger (stuffed with cheese, onions and mushrooms) which is like a mini Juicy Lucy. Harlo is an old time spot that deserves its own thread which I will get to one of these days.

That link you shared of the signs from around IL from flickr is amazing. It actually lead me to this guys collection which I browsed thru in awe late into the night. Click HERE for the IL neon set. I love this stuff and have always been fascinated with East Dubuque, IL and its history as a "Mini Vegas" of sorts. Back when Al Capone was a regular there they called it "Little Cicero" and this pic below from another guys collection I stumbled upon might be the best abandoned neon sign I've ever seen, I might go down there just to photograph it. Oh the stories this "entertainment" club could tell.
