Kinda cool -- it's waaaay off on positioning where I live (I'm closer to LAZ's dot), but then again if I post something somebody doesn't like, I don't want a 6-week-old batch of cevapcici set on fire on my doorstep either.

But I think we're wasting an opportunity with this tool: Can we get it to flag all the GNRs? Can we put a field in the board's posting form to put an address onto a map?

I think it puts the flag in the center of your zip code area.

We could do restaurant maps; however we already have the Chicago Chow Map and eatchicago's GNR map. I think it would be a mistake to do the latter in a medium anyone can add to.

Yes, it does, said the fellow who lives at the extreme upper left corner of his zip code.

I musta missed the post with the Google Map of the GNRs, my apologies.

And I knew that the other map was based on ZIP -- then again, even Google Maps has my house off by about a block when I give it the address. The base data appears to be based on equal spacing between block 100's -- I'm at 1822, but the house on the other side of my corner is 1900, so it puts me about a fifth of the way from 1800 to here.

Aside from the abuse potential, having a closer mark than zip code would be nice to plan LTH block parties. I wonder if it takes Zip+4?

    (edit - no, it doesn't take Zip+4)

Not a perfect solution, but I included my nearest cross streets in my "Shout Out" to help narrow down my location for the burning cevapcici squads. However, do please note that there are seven units in my building -- to avoid confusion, vigilantes are advised to arrange the flaming links to spell out "JiLS."

It actually put me close to my old apartment, which was in 60647, so go figure. Still, it's pretty cool.

My flag is nowhere near my house. It actually put me on the literal wrong side of the tracks. You'll never find me hahahahahah.

It placed me within 10 blocks or so of my place, so that isn't awful I suppose.

The URL of the LTH map has changed. I edited the links above, but if you want to change your bookmark, the new link is http://www.frappr.com/lthforum Frapper is now Frappr.

35 LTHers are now on the map.

Frappr has changed again. Now they allow you to create an account, so you can move your little map icon to the correct place (instead of the middle of your zip code), associate a photo with your account so you can easily use the same one with all your Frappr groups and a few other features.

However, what they don't do is allow you to associate your new account with your old signup on the map. You have to join, then go to the map and put yourself on it again.

That will leave you on the map twice, possibly in slightly different places if you have tweaked your location. Don't worry about that, at some point the first one will be removed.

Those of you who haven't yet put yourselves on the map can join and mapify in one step.

For all those who aren't located where they're located (you know what I mean), there is a correction function that allows you to place yourself exactly whereever the hell you want. Go back and reposition yourselves, literally speaking. (Your figurative and metaphorical positions are beyond my ability to adjust).

Tried to put myself here at home in Montreal, but after clicking on Montreal Quebec, it ended up entering me as "undefined."

Man, is that a *horrible* fate for a logic prof, or what? I mean, undefined?

    Yikes!

So anyway, y'awl will have to be satisfied to toss them flaming cevapcici at my Kansas home sweet home. Meanwhile, I'll be safe, freezing my gluteus off up here in Montreal.
