I have made a Google Map of the winners of the 2005 GNR.

I hope you enjoy it and/or find it useful:

I'm glad people enjoy it. I hope it's useful. :D

Let me know if you see any errors, omissions, or potential improvements.

I realize that our two western GNR winners are not visible by default, but the only way to correct that was to set the default zoom to be much higher, which didn't look right to me. Hopefully people will read my note about the map.

    Michael

This map has been updated with the 17 winners from Jan 2006.

    Enjoy.

Let me know if you find any mistakes or inaccuracies.

Michael, great work on this map. I noticed, too, that for Salamera and Matsumoto you had helpfully included the information that each had closed. Could that information also be added to the GNR forum here on LTH? I expect a fair number of newcomers to the site might scan the list of GNR winners without searching further to discover that these two places are no longer open. Maybe a flag like [NOW CLOSED] could be added to the thread title in the forum.

Good point. I'll check in with the "keepers of all things GNR" (read, dickson).

Beautiful job, EC; this map makes the whole GNR universe more accessible.

Special Sneak Preview of the GNR Map v2 for LTHForum readers!

I have updated the map with the latest round of GNR winners. The map has been updated with two new cool features:

--Color-coded markers identify the "class" the restaurant was inducted in.

--Descriptions of the restaurants (taken from the announcement post) are now part of the marker pop-ups in a second tab.

I haven't checked all the map locations or the data yet, so if anyone finds any mistakes, please let me know.

Special thanks to germuska for his assist in updating me to GoogleMaps API v2 and XML-based data loading.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

    Best,
    Michael

    Enjoy.

Brilliant! And soooooo useful. I'd been contemplating doing this myself but simply don't have the technical knowledge. Thank you, Michael.

Just one question: why is Hot Doug's just east of Milwaukee, in the lake? :o

    Thanks!

You didn't hear that Doug moved? :)

Looks like you found a bug, thanks. This will be fixed tonight.

    Michael
