    Hi all,

I'm hosting the January dessert exchange at our home in Evanston. It will be on January 20 at 4:00. We've got room for 12 people. We also have a dog and cat, if anyone is allergic. All are welcome! I'll make a veggie-friendly light dinner. Each person brings a dessert to share - no need to double a recipe as there is always plenty. Don't forget to bring containers to bring home extras!

    Hi,

I plan to bring Paul Hollywood's Mincemeat filled Chelsea buns.

It's something I wanted to make over the holidays and never did. I am always a bit shy my family won't like mincement.

Unfortunately I found out I need to work next weekend on our upcoming merger, so I will not be able to attend the Dessert Exchange.

Sorry that you won't be able to make it! I will PM everyone my address and info this evening. See you on Sunday. Hopefully the snow will be done by then.

How is everyone feeling about the snow? I think it's supposed to keep snowing, but it doesn't seem like very much now. We're happy to have everyone come tomorrow still. They are really good about plowing our streets. Please let me know so that we can have a headcount. Hope to still see everyone!

ETA: PM sent with directions. Sorry for the delay!

That moment you decide to squeeze the cara cara oranges for sorbet and then realize, after squeezing the oranges, you brought blood orange sorbet to the last dessert exchange.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all, and I'm planning to bring Melissa Clark's Lemon Almond Cake. But I just received an alert from the City of Evanston declaring Snow Emergency parking restrictions for side streets:

"Snow Emergency even/odd parking restrictions for side streets will be in effect on Sunday, January 20 and Monday, January 21, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No parking is allowed on Sunday, January 20 on the even-numbered side of the street . . . Vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing."

Does this affect us for tomorrow?

Yes, but I missed that one, so I'm voting for cara cara orange sorbet anyway. :-)

Yes, thank you for checking. We follow Skokie rules, so it's slightly different but the same idea. You'll have to park on the side of the street with even numbered addresses because it's the 20th (even numbered date).

    Hi,

I plan to be there, though if our driveway is not dug out yet, I may be forced to stay home.
