    We're going commando for April. Siam Siam Thai in Buffalo Grove has no LTH presence. jnm123 says it's the real deal. Let's check it out. Please join us on the 24th to see for yourself. As always, bring a friend.

    Geez, Dog, put culinary pressure on me. That's not the act of a friend...

    Seriously, I found out about this place just a few months ago, and upon maybe 5 visits (both eat-in and carryout) have tried only a few things, and all have been really solid--BBQ pork fried rice, 5-star Chicken, Panang Curry, Green Curry. I will go out on a limb & say their Pad Thai is excellent.

    'Authentic' Thai? Whatthehell do I know? It's inexpensive and it's fresh-tasting. Although sharing is not in my makeup, this might be one of those times to order a buncha things for the table and go from there. Portions are good-sized.

    I'll be there to get the brickbats or bouquets...

    Commando? At least I don't have to make the onerous decision between boxers & briefs.

    That's within my lunchtime travel radius (it's around the corner from my cousin's house), and sounds good, but I'll be on a business trip. I'll look forward to the report.
    For it to be "real deal" Thai in my book, it needs:
    * Papaya salad (som tam)? Check.
    * Tom yum soup? Check.
    * Larb/Laap? Check.
    * At least one dish I've never seen anywhere else? Hmm... Spaghetti Kee Mao, Balloon Chicken, Crazy Catfish... looks promisng
    * No sushi? Check.

    That last one is the big one: Restaurants that serve both are unlikely to excel at either.

    Hi,

    If it is the location I think it is, we have visited this location before with a different shingle.

    I will be there and hope nothing stops me.

    Regards,
    Cathy

    I am going to be tight on time tomorrow because of work, so I might call in a pick-up order beforehand and meet you all there for a little while, but I can't stay for a whole hour. I would drop out but I'm curious about the place and I want to pick up the coupons that Cathy2 is kindly bringing for me.

    Hi,

    I am coming with MoM1 today. She is not a heat-seeking person, so I may order something just for her.

    Great company and lunch at today's outing. I've must've driven by this place a million times. Never knew it existed. They've been at this location for a couple of years. Previously, they were located on Dundee Road in Buffalo Grove.

    The lunch specials are a great value. I selected the (sorry) jnm123 recommended BBQ pork fried rice. Outstanding and a huge portion. Several of us didn't make it to the Clean Plate Club and had to resort to the to-go containers. That's ok. I'll be back!

    Glad to have found this place a couple months ago through a friend, and saw right away it was a cut above, and worthy of group attendance. As Will noted, the tasty pork larb (for the table) had the requisite funk but personally we all stayed with the $7.95 lunch special, about 20 choices and a cuppa soup and crab rangoon to boot. Outstanding value. My shrimp panang curry was silky & delicious.

    I must delve into the dinner menu a bit more. Always good to have Cathy's momo with us!

    The veggie egg rolls I took home made for a decent fried snack, although the filling had no discernable flavor. I also took home a dinner portion of beef massaman curry and white rice -- a few taste suggest the flavor is good and it looks like enough for two or three meals. I'd like to try the penang curry and any of the meats stir fried with basil leaves next time.
