I haven't seen anything like this on here and thought this would be a nice way to find a partner in crime for a dinner. Strictly platonic, of course. We're not trying to turn LTH into a dating site.

    I'll start it off:

I'm looking for someone to join me for dinner at Everest sometime in December. Please PM me if you have interest. Weekdays and Weeknights both doable.

    Great idea!!

My wife isn't always up to driving to the city for dinner, unless it's for Goosefoot or Elizabeth. So I always have to try to find friends who are willing to go but sometimes they are unable due to lack of disposable funds. I am always up for a great meal and to try out a new spot.

I will PM you Royal with my interest but would also like to know if anyone would be interested in going to l2o for their tasting menu. I've been dying to try it for awhile now. Fri-Sun would be ideal since I'd be driving in from the Elgin area. Weekdays are doable as long as I have time to make it into the city with the traffic.

Yes to Top Notch--I love going and its close to a client where I work twice a week. Next week isn't great but the following is wide open--just let me one a day that works for you.

    Hello,

Forever and ever, there is a forum dedicated to events and social activities. This was a priority to the founders of the website, because our prior internet home never allowed this type of planning.

Since it is your dinner, you can set the rules to whatever you want. Dinner on this date for three additional people, and very likely three people will chime in.

Of course, if you post an really early breakfast at 5:00 am at a Indo-Pak taxi hangout. You get to know who the early birds are around here.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    Cathy,

I had seen that, but I figured this would be more appropriate for non specific days/times. I don't have a specific day in mind and I was thinking this would be a good place to post a general idea of grabbing dinner. I hope this is OK. :)

Funny that you did because I was just thinking of doing the same--I always have opportunities to go to various ethnic/inexpensive/HITW places and my SO is good for the mid-priced, date night spots but if I want to go to 42 grams or El Ideas or some of the other high end spots, I have to wait until my much smaller group of possible dining partners is available. This thread could be great for that--thanks for starting this!

By the way, if anyone wants to go to El, Parachute or 42 grams, those are my list toppers right now :)

    Hi,

Probably you are responding to your preferences on how you use this board. If all you look at is Eating OUt in Chicago and little else, then I understand why.

It is preferred people write reviews on Eating Out in Chicagoland Board, they look for ingredients or recipes on Cooking & Shopping Board and create gatherings on Events.

When LTH was created, our old internet playground had none of these features. Since we were users, too, we created these features to make life more pleasant for us and everyone else.

    Thanks all for your understanding.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I've had amazing dinners alone at 42 Grams & Goosefoot as they often have single reservations available. Grace will accommodate a single reservation as well, with enough notice.

If anyone is up to try Schwa and/or Senza, I'm totally game!

I'll be heading back to Schwa on 10/17 at 9 pm. I can always see if they will allow me to increase my reservation from a 3-top, if anyone is interested.

I'm game to try Juno's Omakase...

    I'm sorry..

I've dined with people around the world, some of those are people that I've met via social media. One was curious of my intentions and thought I was looking for a date. Just looking for a dining buddy, that's all.

    Sorry,

    Royal

Boudreau - I'd be up for Parachute.

Other places on my list are Fat Rice and Dancen.

Royal - Good idea. There's a lot of times that I'm flexible about the date and time, but don't have a dining companion who would be interested.

    how was it?

On a side note in the spirit of this thread: A new gig has me confined Monday to Friday in an office 1/4 mile west of Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, so I welcome the chance to get out for lunch.

While lots of corporate chains, the greater Schaumburg area isn't a total food wasteland: Penang, Greek Village Taverna, Asian Bistro, Johnnie's Beef just to name a few.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Bisi was ok, not great, the moi moi (bean cake) was really interesting, I also had the jollof rice with goat, and one of the suya kabobs. Prices were reasonable, the people were nice, they had a fair amount of people in there. I would go again, but probably try some different items.
