Okay, this is maybe closer to food than law schools, but not by much. I'm trying to decide on an on-line photo album service so I don't have to try to e-mail out photos to everyone at our recent Wyoming reunion, many of whom are on dial-ups. Opinions? I'd rather pay than make my mother wade through pages of pop-ups. I don't think a lot of people are likely to order prints, but some may.
I've been looking at this site http://www.andromeda.com/people/ddyer/photo/albums.html to help me decide, but I'm still pretty much in the dark. Anyone out there using any of these sites or not using them for reasons I should be considering?
    Thanks.

I have used both Ofoto and Shutterfly in the past and they both seem adequate. They are nice because they have seamless integration with shopping for prints and a nice slideshow feature.

Yahoo also has a nice photo album feature at photos.yahoo.com.

Personally, since I maintain my own website and can manage the software installed, I use a piece of software called "Gallery" http://gallery.sourceforge.net/

Gallery is very powerful and generally designed for people who host their own sites, but there are sites who will host a Gallery subdomain for you like http://www.digitalgalleryhosting.com/

on a side note, gallery can be seamlessly integrated with phpBB, so anyone with a phpBB account has a personal gallery they can manipulate to their hearts' content.

not sure if it's appropriate for lthforum (but it'd be a great place to put food porn), but it's nifty.

Another vote for Gallery, love it.

A friend uses and seems to like snapfish.com. WHen you mail people links, they have to have an account on snapfish to see the photos, but that's not much effort to set up.

My father uses yahoo photos for pictures of my son to great success. It's easy to use; whenever anyone asks for pictures, I send them the link.

Ditto here for Yahoo! Photos. Many of the pictures I posted on CH were hosted there. I have since taken to hosting chow pictures on my own servers, but for family functions and such, I still use Yahoo! and just pass out the link to anyone who is interested. All you need to post is a free Yahoo! account. Anyone can view the photos whether they have an account or not if you make your album public.

There are some ads, but it is free, and as mentioned, viewers don't have to signup.
