    Hello from Navy Pier!

My name is Maya, and I'm currently working for Third Coast Audio Festival (http://www.thirdcoastfestival.org/), the Audio Fest that brings you Filmless Festivals, Listening Rooms and the podcast Re:sound, which you can hear on WBEZ. (I am also an avid LTHForum reader!)

I'm writing to let you know about the Third Coast ShortDocs Challenge – a public audio project in partnership with the James Beard Foundation that invited people to produce short audio works inspired by the theme of appetite, presented in three “courses,” and include one of the five senses in their titles: bitter, salty, sour, sweet, umami.

For the first time ever, the public is invited to vote for their favorite ShortDocs submission - and the story that collects the most votes will win the first ever Third Coast People’s ShortDoc Award (PSDA). This inaugural PSDA winner will be celebrated along with four other winners (selected by Third Coast from the finalists) at the Third Coast Filmless Festival, happening October 19 & 20 in Chicago at the Old Town School of Folk Music. There, all five winners will be presented along with the unique food dishes they’ve inspired from our Chicago-based ShortDocs Chefs: Rick Bayless (Frontera), Abraham Conlon (Fat Rice), Jason Hammel (Lula Café), Paula Haney (Hoosier Mama Pie Company) and Iliana Regan (Elizabeth Restaurant).

Voting will be open July 18 – 31, via http://www.thirdcoastfestival.org. I think that YOU, LTHers, will love to hear these pieces and participate in the voting!

Please help us spread the word! And feel free to post any comments or questions here!

    Thanks,
    Maya
