This is a very cool idea. Do we need to do anything special to get the free membership this week, or just download and sign up?

You mention an iTunes link. Does that mean it can be downloaded on iTunes? I don't have an iPhone, or any of the other gadgets mentioned, but this sounds like a lot of fun, if it's on iTunes.

Its lots of fun! And we'd love to get you involved, but it currently only works on iPhones. Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't think twice about asking my iPhone loving friends to book our reservations :)

Count me among those interested once this hits Android. Fairly certain my brother and father both will be as well, as they also have G1 phones. You have the restaurant my brother works for signed up, so he might actually already be somewhat familiar with this app.

That is great. We would like to get to Android as soon as possible. We are having remarkable success today with our launch. Lots and LOTS of new users. Hope to see you on soon.

In the meantime, find friends with iphones and go eat!

My understanding is that the year-long membership is free, not the app.

Yes. The app is $1.99. We charge 99¢ per reservation for access to the limited and exclusive specials. But we are offering LTH forum members an Elite Member code (which we will send out next week) that will give you unlimited and free reservations for a year.

...meaning you can make dining reservations through the app and ordinarily you would be charged 99¢ for making a reservation? I'm not sure i understand.

I read over their description & notes pretty thoroughly last night, and I think you've got the idea. 99 cents per reservation, or one month of unlimited reservations for $2.99, or one year of unlimited reservations for $29.99.

I hadn't realized that Apple had started allowing apps that incorporate micropayment transactions, but I heard they'd been kicking the idea around recently, plus MPTs have been all the rage for the past couple years now (mostly related to console & computer gaming here, and much more widely in Asia), so I guess the future is now :)
