NFriday wrote:Hi- I was at the Jewel on Green Bay in Wilmette today, and they had bags of hatch chilies on sale for $1.99 a pound. I was not able to determine where they were from. I saw quite a few customers purchasing them. Hope this helps, Nancy

Cathy2 wrote:Hi,
I am leaving for my annual State Fair weekend on Thursday early.
I may be stopping in Kansas City, though it is possible I don't go. If I get there and (another if) they have Hatch Chiles, who would like some?
If there is an interest, I will call the produce manager at the HyVee where I bought them last.
Sorry for all the conditional statements, but that's what it is.
Regards,

Katie wrote:Not much different, really. Sunset's price is $2.99/lb. I presume that's for fresh unroasted chiles. IIRC, the flyer didn't mention doing roasting on site or selling by the box at a lower price. Sunset is also selling some premade Hatch chile dishes: chile and cheese quesadilla, shrimp-stuffed chile relleno; I forget the other two.
The Heinen's prices shown in posts above are:
--From this year's flyer: " 20 LB CASES FOR $45.99" = $2.30/lb
-- Last year's prices (Cathy2's post): A 25-pound* case costs $45 roasted and skinned. Roasted and skinned chiles are $3.49 per pound. Fresh chiles are $2.69. (Should that 25 lbs be 20 lbs?).
Best prices this year so far (posts by NFriday): unroasted $1.99/lb, Jewel in Wilmette, $1.49/lb, Fresh Market Edens Plaza.
