I went to Dollar House Plus the other day and they were giving away free bags of pita! It's probably old but whatevs, free bread. I took home the 10" wraps. Any recipes for something quick/easy? (Savory only, please)

    Hi,

The only other reference to pita wraps is from Antonius who saw them being used for burritos.

If you have what I think you have, you can use it as a base for a quick pizza.

Make this, but put your pita on the bottom of the pan first. Kind of like chicken bread on steroids.

I split and portion them into triangles. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle salt then smoked paprika, sumac, zaatar, or any combination that strikes my fancy and pantry. Bake, cool, and then serve with homemade baba ganoush or hummus. Doesn't matter if they turn out to be less than fresh using them this way.

Leave them on the counter for three weeks than post in Darest I? :)

On a less serious note, what Rick T said along with hummus. Here is a link to an old thread where I outline my hummus and spiced baked pita bread technique. Hummus, A Love Story: Recipe and Pictues

Leek's linked Ottolenghi recipe looks Fantastic, might want to make that as well. I plan to give it a go before the month is up.

What Rick T. said. It is the only reasonable use for these stale pieces of bread.
