Per their FB page, Mymixx is getting replaced by a new program = just 4 u.

Just4U is Safeway's program which Dominick's used to have. I loved Dominick's just 4 U program, although mymixx is okay.

Just4U deals were more customized, where as mymixx was more generic. Dominick's used to have a deal where you got a $5 GC for the store if you bought certain products. I would get this, and then it would just roll over. One time when I got one of these, they had Di Giorno pizza on sale for $5, and so I got one for free, and then brought it to a party, where it was gobbled up. The only thing I did not care for with Dominick's was the produce section. The produce department at the Dempster/Dodge store stunk. It was barely passible at the Green Bay store.

My favorite cashier at Jewel last night gave me 14 Monopoly game pieces. Out of those I won a package of Hormel pepperoni, a box of animal crackers, a Shutterfly poster, a free gas or grocery reward, and a bunch of tokens. I still need 97 tokens to get the $25 Jewel GC. About a third of the Jewel gift cards are already redeemed, and so if you have enough tokens for a $25 GC, I would get it now. When I entered in my codes on Thursday, I won a free bagel and a coupon for O Organics coffee. They were supposed to be applied to my mymixx account, but they haven't been yet. Has anybody else run into this problem?

I probably know what people are going to say, but is Hormel pepperoni any good? If I decide not to redeem it, I have a friend that would gladly take it from me.

The Just4U program is supposed to start on Wednesday, and there are supposed to be some free items available with it. That is one thing I liked about the Dominick's Just4U program. They customized your offers, and there were quite a few offers that I could use, and they often had something for free. Thanks, Nancy

Hi- I was just on mashupmom's Facebook group, and Rachael gets a copy of Jewel's sale ad a few days early so she can post the deals. Jewel is going to switch over to Just4U on Wednesday, and there are some really good deals you can add to your Just4U account, but not until Wednesday. They are giving away a free bag of baby carrots, and they also have a coupon where if you buy a bag of baby carrots and a package of Sabra hummus, you get $1.50 off. They also have a Just4U coupon for milk, Lays potato chips bubbly water and skippy peanut butter, which brings them down to $.99. For each dollar you spend at Jewel you get one point. When you accumulate 100 points you can get a free loaf of Jewel bread or a package of store brand shredded cheese. There are lots of other good deals that don't require you to sign up for Just4U, such as $.99 asparagus.

If you are already signed up for mymixx you are good to go, and you can start loading the new Just4U coupons on Wednesday. You just enter your phone number at check out. There are tons of more deals out there starting Wednesday that I have not mentioned here.

For people like me that have entered in codes for the Monopoly game, and gotten coupons or free items, the coupons and items appear under your mylist, they do not appear on your regular list of all of the coupons available. Hope this helps, Nancy

Speaking of checkout, the express, 10-15-items-or-less section at Wellington/Ashland (in which multiple checkers handle the same line, and you go to the checker who comes up next--instead of having to guess which checkout line is going to move fastest) is a godsend. It's identical in concept to the one at the Whole Foods on Ashland. I love it. Don't know how widespread it is through the Jewel system.

Highland Park has this, which I consider a very fair approach.

Wheaton's Jewel has the 'guess which checkout line is going to move fastest,' that I hate, too. Once upon a time it had the single line and multiple stations. Why they gave it up, I will never understand.

The Jewels in Arlington Heights--at Palatine and Rand and at Golf and Arlington Heights Road -- both have the single line that feeds into multiple checkers for the 15 items and fewer customers -- and it is a life-saver. Can't imagine why they wouldn't do it everywhere -- unless some stores are short on cashiers.

The reason why they are installing the self checkout is because they can handle more customers with the same number of cashiers. The express checkouts that I go to rarely have all four express lanes open, and lines have increased since they got rid of the self checkouts in these stores. With self checkout you can have all four lanes open being manned by just one cashier.

I know the Skokie Boulevard store now has eight self checkout lanes and only one person to cover them all.

Most public facing retail and food shops (Walmart, Target, Mariano's, Jewel, McDonald's, etc..) are going this way in order to cut labor costs and show increased profit margins. Eventually (already has started) it will hit a lot of middle class white and blue collar jobs with advent of automation and AI many tasks will be done by machine. This is where if people are paying attention the argument for a universal basic wage might/will be needed if we as a society cannot have enough people earning a living to buy said products.

Well this is not good. I just tried to sign into the Just4U. t was supposed to be a seamless change from mymixx to Just4U, and it said that the email and password combination did not match their records. I then hit forgot password, and entered in my email, and it said that the email I submitted is not in their records. The last time they upgraded their computer system a few years ago, they had major problems with it, and I had to call up Jewel to get things straightened out. I might have to do that again tomorrow. Hope everybody else has better luck signing into Just4U than me. Thanks, Nancy

I was able to finally sign in, but when I try to add coupons to my account, it says something about Just4U test market, and when I search for milk, I get Oscar Mayer hot dogs for $3.49 a package. Other people are having problems. Somebody at mashupmom who has connections at Jewel say they are working on it. Apparently Jewel was the last of the Albertson's subdivisions to switch over to Just4U. I think I am going to have to call up the 1-800 number. Last time they upgraded their software a few years ago, a few people had no problems. I had to call them up and they solved my problem, and some other people had problems for weeks. People that are having problems might try getting rid of their cookies to see if that solves the problem. It did not help me.

I like the fact that you can now use your gas rewards for free items in the store instead, although the rewards still expire. If I accumulate a reward this month, it will expire on 4/30. When the farmer's market is open, I have a hard time spending $100 in one month at Jewel. Hope this helps, Nancy

Hi- I did a lot of experimenting, and I finally got Just4U to work. Maybe they just figured out the bugs. I like the fact that you can use the gas rewards for free stuff in the store. Unless I go to Lake County to buy gas, it is always cheaper at Sam's Club in Evanston than it is at Shell even with the gas rewards. I also got a lot of personalized offers such as a one pound bag of organic carrots for $.80. The coupon is unlimited, but is only good for two weeks. Some of the personalized items were not a deal. One was for $4.00 for one pineapple.

I just went on mashupmom, and people are reporting that the bubly is a money maker. There is a Just4U deal for $.99 for the 12 cans of water, and there is also a $1 coupon off bubly, and so you make $.01 if you clip both coupons.

Buggin me about the new application:

I can no longer edit the description of the items on "my list"

    Why this matters:
I cannot add the price shown in the add, OR the offer.
    Example:
This week's ad shows some product called "Core Power" as BOGO. (It's some energy drink, afaik.) If I select the item in the ad, and then add it to "My List," the only thing I see in My List is the words Core Power.

    --
With the old app, I could select that item from My List, and then edit the name. In this case, I would name it something like "Core Power 1.99 bogo."

Also, in the old app, when they combined products at the same price point in their ads (do other ppl get into these details like me, or am I asking for too much?) their app couldn't handle the number of characters in their description in "My List."
Example: In this week's add, Indian Summer Apple Juice, Keebler Fudge Shoppe Cookies, Sandies or Fruit Snacks are all 2 for $4. It's combined into one ad heading for the price. In the old app, if I selected it, and added to "My List, it would show up as something like "Indian Summer Apple Juice, Keebler Fudge" - BUT THEN I COULD EDIT IT, and only have the item or items from that list - say I ONLY wanted the fruit snacks - I could change the line item to be "Fruit Snacks 2 for $4" if I didn't even WANT the other stuff.

Also - this has to be user error - can I no longer add my own items to "My List?" They have to be added from the weekly ad ONLY?

Also, the long list of FAQ's for Online Shopping is numbered, but the answers are not. I'm sposed to cross reference? I'll just skip online shopping instead. FAIL.

And yes, I realize that ranting on a board that has nothing to do with Jewel is totally pointless. I'm just enjoying a Monday am office caffeine high right now while trying to prioritize what work to avoid.

Yes definitely post on their Facebook page. The thing I don't like is it seems like it takes forever to get through the list of items available as Just4U deals. You go through one list, and then you have to click on another list, and sometimes when I click it on, it reverts back to the top of the list.

I just looked on the Monopoly game website, and there are 607,000 free bagels or donuts being given away, and I believe I have won 6 of them so far. It seems like the instant winners are better this year. No gravy mix and aspirin. I hope I collect enough tokens to get a $25 Jewel GC. 60% of them have been redeemed. I still need 65 more. When I was at the Jewel on Green Bay in Wilmette on Saturday, the guy in front of me I could tell was really into the game. He got his free Just 4U items, and then he got 18 Monopoly game pieces, and he redeemed two instant winner coupons for items. He then had a whole stack of get two free ticket instant winners, and asked the cashier if he could give him his free tickets, and the cashier referred him to customer service.
    Hope this helps, Nancy
