Walkin down Randolph Saturday night and noticed D. Kelly space is for sale. Metromix says they closed May 18th. Anyone know anything about this. I had hoped to eat there, they had been open not even a year it seems.

Wonder what did it in, anyone have any info?

It was reported in Morsels, (Chicago Mag's column) that they decided to close it due to a "clash over rent".

I used to go to D.Kelly a lot. My girlfriend and myself were somewhat "regulars." They never were overly busy, having to compete with Blackbird, and especially after Avec opened. The rent thing was in Morsels, but I could also see the actual number of covers they did may have been a factor as well.

    Hi,

Great Chef Series at the Chicago Botanic Gardens has Daniel Kelly of d.kelly as guest chef on September 4th. Under these circumstances, it will be interesting to see if he maintains his commitment.
