A friend took me out to dinner but I was a few moments early so I walked by and then reversed to pop my head in.

It was just shy of 6:30 pm and they closed at 7 pm.

I was surprised they were not discounting the bread. But in the interest of research I chose a sourdough baguette, they had some pieces sliced to taste and dip into oil and balsamic. It was pretty good.

I also spotted a canele. This also turned out to be pretty good.

Service was off at the counter. They had to call someone off-site to decide whether they would make a sandwich for a woman standing there. Apparently the kitchen closes a half hour prior to the shop.

I had to ask for a carrier bag. I was told it was 7 cents. I almost asked for 10 bags, but I stopped myself.

If I was in that neighborhood I would definitely explore more of that menu.

The bread and the canele were lovely.

I guess one could chalk up odd service to being newer. They opened back in Logan Square last December according to Chicago Eater. https://chicago.eater.com/2017/12/12/16 ... quare-open

They are open 7 days from 8 am - 7 pm

PS Still had problems uploading these files. It would not accept them from my computer when I downloaded them from icloud. I had to upload them in google photos and download them from there before I could attach. LLAP

Agree on the baguettes, very good.

They also sell at the excellent Logan Square Farmers Market when it opens.

This appears to be the same company that has La Boulangerie locations next to the Belmont stop on the CTA Red Line, and on Wilson next to the Lycée Français of Chicago. I'm not sure about the latter, but I know the one on Belmont has been there for at least five years, maybe longer. And they have a website, although information for the re-opened Logan Square location does not yet appear on it.

It is the same. I believe they started in Logan Sq. Had some odd agreement with a local coffee shop that prohibited them selling their baked goods and eventually they opened other spaces and closed the Logan Sq. Space.

Stopped in Sunday morning for baquettes for dinner.

Saw the full length glass door, which opens to the side yard shattered. I asked the baker, who must have been a manager or in the family, about it and he said they were robbed Saturday evening. Very sad news, especially for a small family owned business just trying to run a nice business and being a good neighbor.

Robbed? What did they take? I can’t imagine in that neighborhood there would be much cash.
