I searched and couldn't find anything on this topic. I'm looking for restaurants with festive Christmas decorations. I love Butch McGuire's and (of course) there's always The Walnut Room, but I feel like I am missing out on other places. Anyone been to any really Christmas-y restaurants lately that put them in the spirit?

    Hi,

By reputation only, Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso, Indiana is supposed to be highly decorated. They feature turkey on the menu.

How far are you willing to go?

Liebighof, in the Lehel region of Munich, is insane with Christmas decorations.

I always enjoy the upstairs area at Owen & Engine during the holidays. It's a great place to cozy up to a fireplace in a deep leather chair to nurse a mug of hot buttered rum and gaze at festive Christmas decorations.

    Hi,

If you go to the Julbord at Tre Kronor, you feel like you left Chicago and dropped in on an intimate Scandinavian Christmas party. I especially like the second floor, though anywhere you are seated will be perfectly wonderful.

I've REALLY been wanting to do Julbord and I know it'd really be a festive thing to do...but right now a little steep for me. I think I should save for it next year!

Teresa, Owen & Engine sounds wonderful...I'm searching for a good place to go with a friend over our break from work and I think that is a major contender! Thanks for the suggestion!

Did our annual visit to Marie's during Decoration Season. It's the best.
Lady Gregory in Andersonville is very warm and decorative for the holidays. A super handsome, festive space.

I think that the Walnut Room at Macy's (FKA Marshall Fields) is awful. it is the same tree but the ornaments and garland are neutral so the disco lights that flash a monotone colors won't clash. IMHO BORING and nontraditional. Skip the lines.

We make a yearly trip to Lawry's Prime Rib (on Ontario). Decorations are nice and they have carolers roaming the place to give it that festive ambiance. Pricey, but a nice tradition.

Went to White Fence Farm. Kids love it and the decorations are on the shabby side of chic-but every crazy room is decorated. We think it a good value and a unique experience. Bring quarters for the amusements room.

I can answer that--Toons is one of only a few places that my stepsons request to go when they stay with me in the city--they've been going since they were about 11 and 12--now they're almost 15 and almost 16 :)

Its probably not the "Best" place for Christmas decorations, but if you find yourself in that part of the loop, Miller's Pub makes an honest effort to decorate. Also, this time of year they have Tom & Jerry's which are really very good, with both brandy and rum in a warm frothy milk base similar to, but not quite like egg nog.

Edelweiss German Restaurant in Norridge I believe decorates very nicely for Christmas.

    very cozy

and I always thought that all the Ann Sathers restaurants really do something with decorations to bring the holiday spirit.

    Cheers and Happy HOlidays.
