RHR dog quality is inconsistent, so this makes sense.

upon these strong recommendations I had to stop in for the cod sandwich. it is extraordinarily crunchy! wonderful! but in line with complaints about the tartar, i felt strongly that the sandwich needed a pickle component.
nonetheless, that is a mighty tasty $6.11.

This has not been my experience at the RHR Ashland. My typical visit times are around 11am or 10pm. I order a double dog w/mustard, onion, light relish and sport pepper, eat one dog out of hand to savor the flavor and snap and the other in the bun with condiments.

    Obviously YMMV

They have them. Next time, all you have to do is ask.

I want a side of tartar for their fries. Usually I get a side of the burger sauce but this has real potential.

I stopped in today for another RHR fish sandwich. It must be a work in progress because the tartar sauce tasted much better than last time but what do I know, I just eat for a living. The only way to really know is to have the Gold Standard Bearer of taste Ronnie Suburban give it a try.

Tried the highly touted, much debated RHR Fish Sandwich tonight. A solid sandwich for the most part. Decent piece of fish, nicely fried and poking out from both sides of the bun. No problems with the tartar sauce. Wish I'd skipped the lettuce; totally unnecessary. Only criticism, it tasted a bit salty.

To put that in perspective, I do most of the cooking in our home. My wife's only complaint is that I tend to over salt as I cook. She says I've become inured to salt and don't realize how much I'm using. So for me to say it was too salty, you know it was TOO salty.

All in all though a very tasty sandwich.

As recommended by the "Gold Standard Bearer of taste" that's exactly what I did, asked a pickle component be added along with my standard request of sport peppers. Thinking the overabundance of tarter sauce on my first RHR Ashland Alaskan Cod Sandwich an anomaly pickles and sport peppers were my only request.

More "tarter" in the tarter sauce this time around but still too much sauce, if there's a next time I will specify light tarter sauce. Hot dog and crisp fries terrific, I plan on going back to my standard RHR Ashland order of double dog, burger, fries crispy.

I've been getting the cod sandwich about twice a week since I found out about it. I would agree it seems overly sauced each time, it's a multiple napkin sandwich. Size is generally consistent though one time I did have a comically oversized piece of fish, it reminded me of some of the pork tenderloin sandwiches I've had in Iowa where the meat is 3x as big as the bun. I'm going to try adding pickles next time, sounds like a good addition. A worthy addition to the limited RHR menu IMO.

I just don't see why anyone would ever go to RHR and not get the RHR double with cheese.

Confirmed the pickles are a great addition to the cod. I hope the sandwich sticks around for the long haul.

Was there yesterday (along with a few other places) and followed my own advice - had the Cod sandwich + pickles . . .

It was a really nice sandwich and I'd certainly order it again in the future but this stalwart was still the star of the show . . .

We had double burgers with cheese fries last night. To my taste it’s one of the best in the city.
